Looking at the chrome top and base size late 60's. Any date codes? If the boxes are legit then sold and all warranty was through distributor snd not Sylvania.
    See end here.

Bumping this back up for @pearsall001 after running across it in a search just now. Lots of good 6SN7 info in here. Thought he may find it helpful when he’s ready to do some tube rolling in his new Rogue Ninety-Nine.

Nice. And I've actually been casually looking for single 6sn7 again, was thinking about bumping this thread anyway.

I'll send you a few culls, if you want!
    Least I could do. ;)

PS They'll be good culls, not just cannon fodder. I'll check 'em quantitatively & qualitatively! :)

I don't know who I've sent what to -- fortunately, so far (!?) I've managed not to buy back too many things that I donated to charity auctions and fleamarkets.
It's fun getting old, I'll tell ya.

Nice collection! Are you using those or just hanging onto them?

I just have these hanging around here. I am willing to part with a few. I would have to see what I paid for them. I will never use all of these. I found the popes that I wanted so these are part of my collection of tubes. I know I didn't loose any money buying these a few years ago.

Ha! Those, or some that are very similar, are mentioned on page 2 of this thread.

Unless those Russian 6sn7 tubes are Melz, other than that meh. When I first started buying 6sn7 tubes you could buy the Russian MELZ tubes for $20 a pair. They're now as pricey as RCA 5692's.
Out of all the Russian 6sn7 tubes they would be the only Russian tubes I'd be interested in. They are the best of the best in Russian tubes. MELZ stood for Moscow Electric Light and something or another.

    Bob,

Are those 1950's looking Sylvania tube boxes reproduction or original? If they're original I'd be REAL interested in what's in those...

Not a direct substitute for a 6SN7, though.
And the filament current supply might be tricky to implement.
    B)

EDIT: On the other hand, it (probably) is a triode. Probably low mu, though.

That's what I get for shootin' from the hip. :p
    Yup, it does indeed.
Thyratron -- useful for thermonuclear bombs, radar, and remote controls, not so much in hifi.
They are kinda triode-y, though. B)

(in special high-voltage applications or applications requiring very short switching times) hydrogen.

I BET that was a very "short" switching time ...like nano-second...it's ALL ON....KERPOW!

Not all tubes are magic, though.
1B3 HV rectifiers, e.g., from the days of B&W TV.
    Not magic.

Question: Is there any burn-in for tubes?

I see some conflicting info on this. I got a pair of 6SN7s a couple days ago. My 12AU7 and 12AX7 experience says “no,” but I’m wondering what the more experienced tube rollers have to say.

These are some very low/no hour early-50’s NOS 6SN7s that I’m wondering about. There are some things that I really, really like about these tubes and a couple that the jury is still out on. I really wish I would have a chance to exercise the volume control a little more (which will happen in time). That could sway my opinion one way or the other, for sure.
