yeah, but that chitin (beta(1,4) linked N-acetylglucosamine polymer) is pretty darned stable. Boiling it in fairly concentrated hydrochloric acid will break it down to glucosamine, but I doubt the TV would appreciate the process.

Scratching my head on this one for sure!

I like the idea of compressed air, but perhaps one of those cans that have a tube on the end of it. Maybe find an extension tube to be able to sneak it in between the screens.

The suction cup idea is a good one too. Pull the protective screen out, with some compressed air.

    That's all I got. :)

They have been banned in Illinois in response to a series of drive-by screwings by a bunch of flat-heads...

Surely we have a resolution to this issue by now, this is moving at a snail's pace, or an ant's pace for that matter.

I considered suggesting a centrifuge -- it'd need to be a pretty big centrifuge. On the plus side, it wouldn't have to spin too fast...

It's a long process but I've got the little bug down a couple of inches using a small suction cup and a electric tooth brush until it quit dropping down assuming once it dries up a bit more it will continue to drop. It seems the farther down the screen you go, the harder it is for the suction cup to pull the screen away from the screen.

I simply cannot wait to see the YT video.

Ivan that's what I'm thinking, but I want to make sure that ant is dried up so I dont smear bug juice in between as that would require taking it apart to clean that mess up.

Do not do this... the closer to the edge, the more sensitive the glass becomes. Some sets will crack faster than you can think possible from the slightest touch.

Wait it out a bit Steve. The heat generated from the screen should dry it out soon if it isn't already.

Once it gets close to the edge, like John said, you don't want to fudge with the screen anymore. Be better to try and remove the framing from that part of the screen to remove any pressure and then wiggle it down by tapping it slightly.

The prehistoric ants trapped in amber (fossilized tree resin) wondered the same thing, albeit in inscrutable prehistoric ant languages...
