Given the SDA L800 is coming, I would be inclined to give them an ear first. I must say however, I wish Polk went ribbon or DmD for the tweeters, but I need to hear them first.

  • I'm sure the new SDA's will be great but doubt they are contenders with these bad boys! I'd bet my bootie on that! Not even close.

What a deal on some amazing speakers. Someone in/near Texas should jump on these. If they were within a few hundred miles of upstate NY, I'd be very tempted myself...although my 11 1/2' wide x 23' long living room may not have been able to accommodate these big boys. I am sure they need a large room.

Skip. You know anyone that drives to deliver speakers? Or an auto that could accommodate these 500 pound beasts? A day trip? I will bring the money and egg rolls, just not the muscle.

If I wasn't into the LOVE of the Rosso's Mid range heaven and hadn't already bought some speakers I would have considered buying these even though I do not have the room for them yet until I built another house LOL

Alright. Making contact.. Reaching out to powers that be. Let’s see if I could move them to my place.
  • Reality check on just how real of a deal 6 thousand dollars will bring in the speaker game. Used or not these babies kill anything out there in this dollar range. Congrats Halen.

Sorry to hear these won't work in your space, halen, as I know you really wanted the speakers.

I am curious...what would be the optimal size room for these speakers?

Around 18 x 25. It needs a lot of room. I am working with custom builders for a guest house in the back. I have not even moved in to my new home build yet.

I can’t build a place based on audio requirements before living/income/rental requirements.
  • Dang ..perfect for my bedroom to replace the 6381's. It's that 6 grand I am not wanting to part with. Ouch. But again..see what that 6K brings$

Thanks, Halen. There is also an Usher BE-10 which would fit a small to medium sized room much better tthan the BE-20. From what I have read (I have not heard them in person), the BE-10 speakers sound as good as their bigger siblings.

They do. He has heard my pair. My bigger concern with Halen is that he has had the Rosso Fiorentino Siena in an appropriate space and has those as a reference. As good the upper tier Usher are, the Siena are that much better.

With that said, the new SD500 is a killer little monitor for a few grand and implements that special diamond tweeter. They also have a new midrange woofer and actually do more in space than even the Mini Dancer series. They have given me great hope about the future of Usher and where they are heading. I would really like to hear the new TD-10 with their new Diamond midrange. If it does space like the SD-500 does, it could be a big upgrade over the somewhat dated Be-10.

Thanks, Skip. great info. I would love to hear Usher speakers. The TD-10 looks amazing, as do all of their current line. I am also looking at upgrading speakers in the future and Ushers are near the top of my list but i will have to find a place I can get my ears on them first. The Dancer Mini Two (with diamond tweeter) also gets great reviews and is (relatively) reasonably priced. What are your thoughts on those?
