So B&O is for sale, unlike Greenland. I suppose we could just invade Greenland and take it over though, as we do have an election approaching.

So true... I’ll never buy another Harman (or Harmon) product again... 😞 ... but then, I’d more or less decided that anyway, so... 🤔

I always loved the aesthetics of B&O gear! Never really heard them, components or speakers, although I do have a set of their headphones :)

Their loudspeakers used Danish (SEAS or... whatever) and Philips drivers in the 1970s and were quite nice, actually. Their

The tts are kind of flimsy but actually work and sound pretty good -- their moving iron ("Micro Moving Cross" -- MMC) cartridges were excellent. Excellent enough that Soundsmith rebooted them when b&o threw in the towel on the phono cartridge market not all that long ago (early 2000s). :)

Like Apple products, the b&o tts illustrate the best and worst of a closed-architecture "ecosystem". :p The very low-mass, high-compliance b&o cartridges were optimized for their arms, and vice versa.

I have a TX-2 with an MMC-4; it's a second stringer here but it is a very capable tt/cartridge (still).

b&o's tape decks (reel and cassette) were pretty good sounding but not terribly robustly made; many/most of their electronic components didn't age (i.e., hold up) very well -- but when they were new, they were good. Expensive, but good.

I am not sure there was ever a more elegant hifi product -- ever -- than the b&o
Beomaster 1900 stereo receiver*. I couldn't really find a photo on line that does this elegant and very advanced product (for its time) justice! :/

These things were very slender (could even be wall mounted) and were chockablock with tightly-packed innards; they were pretty notoriously unpleasant to service or restore, I believe.

Their tts and arms were quite good.

David Hafler (Dynaco) imported and sold their arms, cartridges, record players and tape decks for a while during Dynaco's glory years.

    * well, I guess the Museum of Modern Art (NYC) felt that the b&o tangential-tracking Beogram 4000 may have been the most elegant of all (as shown in my earlier post). :)
The 4000 was way ahead of its time.

Omg, Harman is really owned by Samsung now? I love old JBL and this breaks my heart. First Harman now Samshit?

Anyone know if all of the JBL line is owned by Harman/ Samsllhit? Even the Synthesis, Array and Everest lines? Seems like they are the only series that dont share drivers with Infinity.

I always wanted to hear a pair of these from B&O.

Back when I was looking for wall speakers, I found these by B&O. Talk about style! :) I did end up getting some Polk in walls though!
