Love the face/bezel combo there Rick. Not normally a 2 tone fan either but it works with that one. Nice purchase.

I've been helping my dad clean out some stuff at his house, and found a stash of old random watches. Most are cheap crap, but I found a couple of interesting ones.

Here's a Russian military watch made by a company named Vostok. It's the paratrooper version.

I was surprised it is a mechanical wind-up with a screw-on crown. It runs great, and is in great cosmetic shape - not a single scratch on the crystal. The band is a replacement...need to find a better one.

Also found this old Seiko. It's a model 6105-8000.

Clearly in rough shape, and it's not running. I can feel/hear something moving around inside. Research indicates these are pretty valuable if running, so I'll look into getting it repaired.

My all time sentimental fave! When the Mrs and I first started dating, she bought a matching his/hers set of these one Christmas! Movado Museum Esperanza. Nowadays big huge chunks of metal are all the rage, but these slim beauties are well, elegant! Stock pic, mine is upstairs in closet, battery dead, on a shelf dedicated to my watch collection! :) I have no idea where hers is!

Little love to MICKEY. My wife reminded me I still have this little gem. Never worn and harder and harder to come by. Seiko. Gifted to me when I played DW back in the mid 90's with my old Beatles Tribute. Looking now how beautiful it was crafted. I knew I still had it just don't see myself wearing it . Rethinking that now. 🐁

(See how I kept a tad of Audio in this post) 😄🎩

I've been wearing this for 5 or 6 years now.......I've always wanted adiver but can't justify spending the cabbage for a Rolex Submariner or an Omega Seamaster. I dig the Tudor divers but still, lot of cabbage.

Someone turned me on to Steinhart a few years ago......the do Rolex homage watches. It's got a solid ETA movement, water tight to 300m, and it has taken a beating as I wear it at work everyday. The only gripe I have is the bezel only turns one way....not a big deal but I use that feature a lot (to keep track of ticket times in the kitchen).

I just can't do the metal bracelets though.....I'm a NATO strap guy. When they start to stink, off with the old...in with the new.

One of my favorite everyday pieces. Made in Detroit! :)
    2gepymbaq0jj.png

well how about that you do know schit from Shinola….

Lol! I was actually taken aback when they announced the name a few years back. Since then, the brand has certainly taken off! They sell everything from watches, leather goods, even bicycles, and, TT's! :)
Its a cool looking watch and their story is interesting. I have mixed feeling about the company and other companies like this in Detroit. I was born there in the '66. Even though the decline started in the 50's mated with the riots in '67, I have memories of a vibrant downtown in the 70's and it just went downhill from there. However, if this is the new birth and the best that we can hope for to turn around broken cities in this Country then so be it. The development and growth of parts of the city is incredible. However, places like my old neighborhood almost brings tears to my eyes, especially during a recent visit this year. The area looked real, real bad.

In the late 70's the suburban like area on the NE side of town had everything a family could want within a couple of square miles. Supermarkets, hardware store, bakery, Dentists, music store, movie theater, drug store, clothing store, meat shop, liquor store, antique shop, bike shop, banks, bars, restaurants, Saunders Ice cream, shoe repair, lawyers office, doctors offices, you name it.

Nevertheless its cool to see the development along the Cass Corridor where Shinola is located. However, gentrification has its ups and downs.

That bezel turning one way thing is by design. In a divers watch (not that many of us actually dive), whenusing the bezel to time the dive, if you turn the bezel the other way on accident you now think you have more left than you actually do. It’s a safety feature on a true divers watch

    Huh, didn't know that.....well, I guess it's a legit diver.

For me, it makes a great timer for ticket times......the deepest it goes with me is a sink full of water when I'm stuck doing dishes.

Look, I don't know about you jokers....but I'm pretty careful and can deftly handle my wedding tackle.

You don't just go around willy nilly with metal and sensitive skin. Any of you guys shave for chrissakes? Been doing it for years and all my bits and pieces are still attached.

    I wonder about you guys.

Upon closer examination, it looks like the crystal has a major flaw around the 5:30 position. Still, this is a fixable problem.

Great looking watch. Simple and elegant. Needs a simple black leather strap to complement it.

Makes all the other watches in this thread look like useless, worthless, POS. :)

    Jdjohn ,
Whatever u decide to do ,
Leave the dial , hands , bezel intact and untouched - no matter the condition ...
Do not even have the watch polished ....
I wouldn’t even replace the crystal unless u can get a NOS one ....
Just get the movement serviced with NOS parts if possible ....

The value in that watch lies in its originality especially the dial , bezel and hands ..... if u replace parts the value declines significantly ....
