So I found this cool thread at AudioKarma about doing this. This is the way i want to store my records, much easier to flip through them than try to read the splines. I want to plan my cuts to minimize waste as i plan to build several. The situations is, the cabinets cannot be higher than 24" as they will be on casters and underneath a 16' long shuffleboard table. Unless there is a better way to tackle this, I plan to make the cuts as shown but just reducing the back and 2 sides to 24". Is there a better way to go about this?
Yep, my name really is Bob.

I don't see why you couldn't reduce the back and sides. It would be interesting to hear from others.

Yep, was fully intending to do one or more of these but didn't know until Friday what my height limitation would be.

I made a record rack out of an old futon from college years ago...worked out pretty well.
