Very cool equalizer. I still have a BSR equalizer from DAK. I was mesmorized by the spectrum analyzer. It has a pink noise generator with microphone, which is still pretty useful even today.

DAK back in the day was one of the things that got me started down the audiophile (label defined very loosely) path.

Edited for misspellings before @Viking64 viewed this post!

I've never bought anything from dak; but I have been known in the past to lug home completely worthless audio gear from yard sales, flea markets and craigslist. I'm also betting I'm not alone in doing this either :)

But Doc, that was when I was, un-enlightened! Or ignorant, however you may call it!

Back when I was about 12 or 13 years old, I had a system that had 3 EQ's in it. One of the EQ's was this one and it was a sexy EQ back in the day. I knew at least 3 or 4 friends that had it as well.

Now, why did I have 3 EQ's you ask? I did not like the sound of CD's when they first peeled my ears....er, uh, I mean when they first came out. So I had one to attenuate the signal coming from the CDP that feed right into the next EQ to where I could re-boost those frequencies that were lacking somewhat after attenuation.

The 3rd EQ was, if memory serves, hooked in through the tape loop to EQ the entire system. This was where the BSR was looped into the fray to EQ the radio, reel to reel and record player.

While this system is completely laughable now? Man, as a kid that age on my block? I was king of the neighborhood, especially since I had this new fandangled thing called a CD player when the adults in the area didn't even have it yet.

I would spend hours upon hours listening in a dark room in the basement of our home just watching those dancing lights play along with the music...Little Feat, Kix, Extreme, Bon Jovi, Santana, Twisted Sister, Dokken and the like were all hot back then.

Ah, to be a kid again...

In fact, it these exact memories that I would like to replicate (albeit on a completely different scale) by getting another spectrum analyzer >>> https://forum.polkaudio.com/discussion/191165/spectrum-analyzer-sourcing-one-or-building-one - This time with no EQ...just the dancing lights so I can be reminded of what it was like growing up, watching those pretty little lights just dance the night away.
