Help! Looking for streamer (Tidal) into older DAC

I have a modded Adcom that I'd like to still use. I'm late to the game, but would like to give Tidal hifi a shot. Any recommendations for a device for Tidal that can be connected to my Adcom?

Do you have the tidal app on any of your TV's or BRay players?

I don't, unless the ps4 offers that nowadays. I saw that a chromecast audio can be used with an optical cable. Is that all I would need? It would seem to be a cheap entry point.

Chromecast will cast from a phone, tablet, or computer. It cannot run tidal directly.

Other cheap option is an older Logitech squeezebox with a tidal plugin and Logitech media server running on your computer or just connect directly to mysqueezebox.com.

If casting from my phone or cpu, I assume there is degradation prior to my Adcom processing the signal?

There will be no degradation. The Chromecast is simply being used as rendering a end-point. However, Google in all their infinite wisdom has discontinued the Chromecast Audio, so grab one quick.

Chromecast audio is a neat little device. I personally would grab this, but it is more expensive:

You may also have the app on your satellite box....which likely has a dig output.

If you can locate one, the Chromecast Audio is being discontinued for $15.

I believe Tidal HiFi will cast to it. Super-inexpensive way to try Tidal streaming.

The Chromecast Audio also works nicely with FLAC CD rips on a PC using DLNA server software and the Hi-Fi Cast app on my Android phone.

In addition to a Sonos Connect, I have a few Chromecast Audio pucks around the house, and have set up a few for friends/family. Shame they are being discontinued, given how well they work for so little money.

Still shows chromecast audio $35 and in stock at my local small bestbuy?

They have been on sale for $15 for a couple months to close them out. I saw them for $15 at Meijer last week (and bought one about a month ago there for $15), but maybe the sale has ended. I plan to go there today and pick up another one, if they are still in stock.

I was able to locate one at Frys by me. I bought an adapter and am putting it through its paces. Thanks everyone for the help!

My Local Meijer still has CCA's, but now they are on clearance for $31.50. LOL, not much of a clearance price vs. the $35 regular price. Sale price of $15 must be over, but they are such a good value, I bought another one anyway.

dagame27, let us know how it works out for you.

Just curious, what did you mean by "bought an adapter"? A mini to standard optical cable?

Yes. I bought a modded adcom gda 600 here a couple years ago. I love its warm sound. It's old, so I needed a toslink connection. So far, so good. I listened to the master stream of the Beatles white album. I was impressed.
