Why has neutrik nl4 not taken over home audio

Arguably a superior connection to even the best binding post and costs fractions, what's the rub?

Funny I was wondering the same thing while I was putting together my nuetrik-dreadnaught cables. It seems secure, foolproof, and free from contaminants once it clicks into place.

It's honestly just a better connection, period. But binding post as stated look higher end, I guess. Just seems foolish, same thing as using hdmi versus HD base t

    Ohh well!

Yup...... I’ve debated making some of my own cables using Kimber 8TC. Banana at one end..... Neutrick at speaker since my next ones will be DIY based.

I am going with Nuterick for my surrounds for sure, at least at the speaker end lol...

Thanks to Trey, my 2.3TL's have 2 beautiful interconnect cables that connect to the terminal plates and dreadnaught case via NL4 connectors. :)

If a company started doing this, they would severely limit their market share.

It is not the "standard" that is recognized across the industry. Most folks across the globe cannot mod the connections them self, they do not know anyone (nor would they want to ship) who could do the mod and the selections of "Upgrading" a cable right now stand next to zero.

While I have these connectors in my rig, if I were to upgrade.....let's say my speaker cables.....what would my choices be?

    I rest my case.

You are just a negative Nancy

They should start including them in speakers now and offering the option and in twenty years when this hobby is officially dead it will be the standard!

Hey, I'm all for it. They *should* be the standard IMO.

I have not had a loose connection since these became the "standard" in my rig!

Not sure in this case, "If you build it, they will come", applies here though. I'm afraid we will be stuck with Nanner's and wire for all time.

I would add that the Neutrik's are much larger (~ 2X) than a typical binding post or IC interface. This would force the back panels to grow, the layout of the back panels to grow, add more material, and thus cost more. The size of the component chassis may even get larger as a result.

Any component that incorporates them into their product would have to offer both options, much like the balanced and unbalanced IC's some companies offer on the back panels.

I agree that they are far superior, but with manufacturers trying to keep costs down, and the industry standard being otherwise, it may take a while for it to be more common. Just my thoughts.

My non powered dj speakers have used this connection for years.
On a side note, for my powered dj speakers, they use powercon. For home audio, neither are common but in pro audio, its way more common.

It'll never happen, far too much home audio gear floating around in the world with binding posts on them already.
