We had that amp for years. It’s big, warm and dynamic. It sounded more “right” than a few expensive audiophile amps we tried to upgrade it with. In the end, a pair of Odyssey monoblocks (at greater cost) provided more audiophile goodies in the transparency department. But we still fondly remember the 1090.The preamp specialists. http://BackertLabs.com

Not current, but I had one paired with some SDA SRS 2's. Great amp. Matter of fact I think I got it from Emlyn. The wheels on the back help sliding it in the rack.

Interesting and telling fact is that Rotel dumped Class AB amps for a few years in favor of their Class D experiment, but then went back to their traditional thing. The current RB-1590 is pretty much the same as the old RB-1090 design with updated cosmetics.

I tried some Class D mono blocks, then Ed Savinon the SRT king brought over the Krell KSA-250, Class A. No contest, the Krell stayed.Salk SoundScape 8's * Audio Research Reference 3 * Bottlehead Eros Phono * Park's Audio Budgie SUT * Krell KSA-250 * Harmonic Technology Pro 9+ * Signature Series Sonore Music Server w/Deux PS * Roon * Gustard R26 DAC / Singxer SU-6 DDC * Heavy Plinth Lenco L75 Idler Drive * AA MG-1 Linear Air Bearing Arm * AT33PTG/II & Denon 103R * Richard Gray 600S * NHT B-12d subs * GIK Acoustic Treatments * Sennheiser HD650 *
