Why not fix it? C/O is pretty simple.

What seems to be the problem with it? The spiders do come loose those can be glued. The drivers do come up on eBay pretty often other than that Ken is correct on the XO pretty simple.

Yes you can find used ones on eBay for reasonable if your patient, and I think that a cs400 or 400i would also be a solid match...

That does not sound like a box problem as they are ported. Is this in the tweeter section?
  • Not sure, but ever since I had to reglue the box, I've had this problem. It's mostly when their is people speaking. Hard to explain. Like they are talking with a lisp.

Could it be a severe box vibration?
    Or a unsealed cabinet?

Sure sounds like an air leak to me. If the opening in the cabinet is closer to the driver than the port, then air would escape there first right? And that could produce the hissing problem.

Used ones (or cs400i) are pretty cheap. I would just look under the couch cushions and keep my eyes pealed for a replacement.

I agree, they're very rare indeed. I took a 130 mile one way road trip with the wife to get mine from a forum member. I've had it for many years now. I don't think I've seen another for sale since. :#

yet a member here tried to sell one for months for 250.00 and no bites. I tried and tried to buy it but my funds just wouldn't free up enough to get it. I would of made the 300mi trip both ways to get it.

I don't remember that ad on here but if it was within 150 miles, I would've made the trip if I had the money also! I think I paid 250.00 for mine. I got a POLKIE discount I think. :);)B)

    Read it and weep fellers...
I was in direct contact for months with him. He held out then gave me first dibs before it went to Craigslist for a lot more than it was offered to me for 250.00.
