Use delicate caution around any plastic pieces that have become brittle after 30+ years if being warmed up

Happened to notice a (12 year old) thread at AK this morning* that might be of interest :| It does raise an interesting question for the OP of this thread: what loudspeakers are you thinking about/planning to use with your new-to-you SX-1250? :)

I've missed out on the very elite HIGH $$$$$ speakers and electronics. I haven't done the rounds of Pawn shops and thrift stores in years. Although a friend and I went the other day because the burger joint was 1 block away from Good will. He bought some CDs and I bought 1 CD. The store looked barren compared to what it used to look like.

I have that pair of Newform Research speakers that sell for 7K now. But the newer ones have better crossover components and better bass cabinet construction and veneers. But still, I paid 300.00 for my pair a long time ago, so I'm OK with my old NR speakers.

I had a list of everything I ever sold up until a year or so ago. The Note pad got lost somehow. I could copy each page and show what I sold, to who, on what day and for how much. ;)

I need to find that pad!!! :'(

I've been blessed to have found a lot of cool electronics and speakers shopping in this City over a lot of week-ends. Yard sales and Pawn shops were the BEST places to find GREAT bargains. Good will was great until they started looking online at Ebay prices. They would still price their cool stereo stuff below Ebay but sometimes I couldn't afford to pay or didn't want to what they wanted. I still remember that mint cond. Technics SL1400MK2 coming out on the handle of that shopping cart that one day or night. 12.99 or 13.99 bought it. They use a shopping cart to bring things out from the back room. I was standing there at that moment in time. o:)B)

Good will is back to pricing things OK but I just don't go for some reason. Maybe it's because I don't have the room for much more! :#

I've yet to hear a Parasound amp in my cottage or McCormack or B&K either. No Krells or Balanced Audio either. Maybe one day! ;)

There's 2 people selling Parasound HCA1000A's for 200.00 each. My old friend bought one and I liked how it sounded through those Infinity's he got instead of me. But I've got 3 Adcom GFA555II's right now. I'd like to get a newer Parasound one day maybe, unless you people think those older HCA amps are worth 200.00 or the one guy also has ( I think he still has 2 left) 2Parasound HCA1500A's for 400.00 each.

I still have the bug of wanting to hear all kinds of stuff I've read about over the years! I'll keep buying till I die, I'm sure of it. :p:D
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Bad news, the right channel does not work. Going to give this back to my buddy and not buy it. It is a pretty beast.

I am guessing/hoping that you did the normal triage on such issues.

To wit: Checked to see if the issue's in the preamp or power amp; fiddled (very technical operation) with knobs, buttons, switches to see if it's a dirty or balky control, checked the fuses - that sort of thing?

Unit is clean. Another co-worker inspected and cleaned all knobs and switches. He said it was really clean considering the age. All lights work. Old school so cool!

So, your colleagued cleaned but didn't try out afterwards (or before, for that matter)?
That strikes me as rather odd.

Trust but verify - words to live by ;)

That was over a year ago. I don't like typing as much as you LOL. The owner is going to check it out to see if he can find the issue...

You may have more of a life than I do :)
