Not sure if this would be a blessing or a curse, but...

I recently bought a Parasound HCA1200 on Ebay. When it arrived I could hear something rattling around and when I plugged it in, it started smoking. I was refunded, and rather than paying for the return shipping, the seller said I could just keep it.

If anyone would like to take a crack at it for repair or parts I would be willing to ship it at your cost. I could open it up and take some pictures if that would help anyone decide.

    I mean if you got it for free, I would hit up Big Sky audio and get an estimate. For the cost that they normally go for used you might be able to get one that's been refurbished by folks that know what they are doing...

    Thanks for the heads up. That does sound like a good idea, but I'm going to take my time on my next purchase, I'm sure I'll end up with something solid. Hopefully someone here can fix this up for cheap and either use it or make a nice little profit.

    DO you have any idea where the black peices came from? I looked for somewhere in the pictures that it would have come from, but I didn’t see anything. Are they plastic or paper or something else? They look like paper to me, but I can’t tell.

    It's a semi rigid plastic. Seems like the same material that's around the power supplies in this picture, but when I looked last night I didn't notice any issues with any of them.

    Ha, now that I look at the picture, it sure does look like there's some missing from the middle supply on the left. I'll take another look when I get home.

    Oh yeah, I'm at zip code 24540 and according to the spec sheet it weighs 38lb.

    I think that was due to the angle I took the picture from.

    I'll have to take a closer look at the knobs. I did not remember them looking quite like the picture shows. But yeah, there does appear to be some signs of water.
