Not sure if this would be a blessing or a curse, but...
I recently bought a Parasound HCA1200 on Ebay. When it arrived I could hear something rattling around and when I plugged it in, it started smoking. I was refunded, and rather than paying for the return shipping, the seller said I could just keep it.
If anyone would like to take a crack at it for repair or parts I would be willing to ship it at your cost. I could open it up and take some pictures if that would help anyone decide.
If you're in give me a number 1-100.

@WLDock I would suggest editing out your email and send in a PM....

I mean if you got it for free, I would hit up Big Sky audio and get an estimate. For the cost that they normally go for used you might be able to get one that's been refurbished by folks that know what they are doing...Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

Thanks for the heads up. That does sound like a good idea, but I'm going to take my time on my next purchase, I'm sure I'll end up with something solid. Hopefully someone here can fix this up for cheap and either use it or make a nice little profit.Pro-ject 2 Experience SB, OPPO BDP-103, Marantz SR5011, Lounge LCR MKIII, McCormack DNA-HT5, Polk LSiM705, Polk LSiM706C, Polk LSiM702, SVS SB16-Ultra -

DO you have any idea where the black peices came from? I looked for somewhere in the pictures that it would have come from, but I didn’t see anything. Are they plastic or paper or something else? They look like paper to me, but I can’t tell.
Is it the mark ii or the original? -
It's a semi rigid plastic. Seems like the same material that's around the power supplies in this picture, but when I looked last night I didn't notice any issues with any of them.
It's the original.

Is the front crooked? It looks kinda sideways in the picture.
Also, could you show pictures of the front panel and rear panel? -

Lol when I first got a shipping estimate it had auto selected ups air travel early next day, and it was like almost $350. I was very worried for a second.

I think that was due to the angle I took the picture from.
I did take some of the panels...

Goodness, what happened to the knobs on the front?
-
Water damage? The hold down plate on the toroidal is rusty too. This does not look like a job for the casual tinkerer.
-
I'll have to take a closer look at the knobs. I did not remember them looking quite like the picture shows. But yeah, there does appear to be some signs of water.Pro-ject 2 Experience SB, OPPO BDP-103, Marantz SR5011, Lounge LCR MKIII, McCormack DNA-HT5, Polk LSiM705, Polk LSiM706C, Polk LSiM702, SVS SB16-Ultra

This might be a little bigger of a job than I first thought... but I will do my best if I get it, and if my best is not good enough then I will... uh... probably get it fixed professionally or something

This thing looks like it got wet and or sat out in the garage or a damp basement for some years.
