LOL ^^^ The 1.2's utilized the SL2000 tweeters so in order to "upgrade" to the 1.2TL's you have to swap out the SL2000's to SL3000's. But in order to switch to SL3000's you have to change the negative wire connector at the tweeter to a larger one to accommodate the large tab on the tweeter, then you have to use a pin removal tool to reverse the wires on all the tweeters at the crossover (Molex connector) so that they are now out of phase on purpose

Also, there is a "transitional driver plate" that has 13 bolts instead of 9, but I can't figure-out how that sits in the 1.2 timeline otherwise.

Yeah, that does suggest a native TL designation in most cases. I'm just glad that my speakers and serial numbers and crossovers and wiring harness and tweeters and drivers and shipping boxes all match. HAHAHAHAHA -
I'm glad all three of my TL's have everything matching also.
No boxes though.

Same pair ~$650 price difference. Add about $350-400 to the price for sales tax.

I thought "TL" stood for "tri-laminate" which was the certain combination of polymers on the cone, or something to that effect. Maybe the last non-TL 1.2 had the tri-laminate drivers but didn't have the same array as the TL, which might explain the different crossovers.
Yes it is a tri-laminate tweeter. That is why some are gold, silver or a dark color. I'm guessing it was which vapor deposited coating when on last.

I am holding a brochure that refers to BOTH the 6 1/2" mid-bass drivers AND the tweeters as "tri-laminate". I used to think it was just the tweeters. It was explained to me the reason for the different colors was they could not control the outcome of the process. Since there are only two metals deposited, the polymer being the 3rd layer, I'm pretty sure the 3 different colors were not the result of which coating was applied last.Political Correctness'.........defined

The brochure reads: "Each SRS model features an array of Polk's exclusive Trilaminate Polymer 6 1/2" midbass drivers that exemplify today's state-of-the-art loudspeaker technology."
A few pages later it says: "The Polk SL 3000 Trilaminate Dome Tweeter sets new standards for bandwidth, flatness or response, phase linearity and power handling."

Not the same. The speakers in the eBay ad are 1.2's. The speakers in the Audiogon ad are 1.2TL's.
I goofed. I went from the original 1.2's ebay listing to an ebay link of the audiogon 1.2TL's for ~$4500 and mixed them up.
