Doing a little comparison listening between Katsaris's and Pires's rendering of Mozart -- particularly, Piano Sonata No. 14.
I prefer Pires, who seems more subtle and refined than Katsaris.Family Room, Innuos Statement streamer (Roon Core) with Morrow Audio USB cable to McIntosh MC 2700 pre with DC2 Digital Audio Module; AQ Sky XLRs to CAT 600.2 dualmono amp, Morrow Elite Speaker Cables to NOLA Baby Grand Reference Gold 3 speakers. RUSH Archives dollar vinyl. Haters at the CD/Game store roached FBN, but I hoping to save the others. USC will be in order. So far o.k.

Big difference between the original CD and this one. Big. I hear things on this one I never knew was in the original CD and it totally mesmerized me listening. Highly, highly recommended if you have an SACD player. Well worth the money and this is easily the best version I have heard of this album....and I have something like 7 different versions.
Tom

^^^Nice choice!.^^^

BTW, I'd like to make a correction. I did not get the Dire Straights SHM-SACD, although I will. The day I looked up the image, I had gotten in many SHM-SACD's in that day, I thought that the Dire Straights BIA was one of them. Yeah, smack my posterior and call me Sally....I was incorrect. My apologies for being misleading. It was an honest mistake.
With that said, the version I WAS listening too was the one pictured below...:format(jpeg):mode_rgb():quality(90)/discogs-images/R-5016061-1441776442-7148.jpeg.jpg)

I have #6474
This SACD put me in a place some old timers here used to call "the magic". Listening to "Ride across the River" became a truly religious experience. Easily one of the top musical selections I have in my collection for purity, realism and sheer musical "experience". Not just sound emanating from your speakers. Beyond sonic bliss would be three words I would use to describe this version on my rig.
Sorry about any confusion I may have caused. I'll double check moving forward...
Still enjoying Eva as we speak. Damn, she's good!
Tom~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
Now that Eva has done with her performance....(nice, BTW. Very nice), I have decided to finally put in some lady I have heard much about over the years (and this is somewhat of an "audiophile" album from what I have heard), Patricia Barber's "Cafe Blue".
From the first note it sounds good and I'm currently on song one. Great sonics so far.
We'll see....so far, so good.
