Emotiva XPA 5 with Sony ES 5300

I have not been here in a while, seems like its all changed since around 2011-2012. I also know what I am going to report will not matter much. My XPA 5 after 8 years still going strong, rock solid, runs cool. My Sony ES 5300 now 9 years old also solid as a rock also runs cool. Just an FYI

Nothing better than having well made gear that just keeps on chugging along.

    Rock on!

My home theater set-up has an XPA-3 hooked up to my Sony STR-DA5400ES. Been a work horse and gets those RTi A9's working good. No issues to date and the Sony keeps chugging away. I think Sony did its homework on the ES series.

Glad your gear is still pumping out the sounds! :)

That's good news. I too, have the XPA-3 driving my HT front three speakers and is showing no sings of slowing down.

Maybe Emotiva should be on my radar for future 2 channel amp
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

My opinion as an owner is that they are really good when used in your home theatre. I find them a little harsh for 2 channel. They will work but I think there are better options out there.

A friend loaned me a Bryston a few years back. Terrific product, very impressive build quality. In my case I could not hear anything diffrent than with the XPA5. Tried it out with a few diffrent people. No one could detact a sound diffrence with the two amps. Maybe the processor being the same, has the sound signature, rather than the amp.

There is 0 reason for you to upgrade since the gear is still working just fine, and you are happy with it.

Ignore these guys they love spending other peoples money even when it's not needed.

All except one of my Emos are in mothballs. My first one is doing rear surround duty.

Are you going to do 2 channel in your home theater room or in a separate room? A couple of advantages to giving Emotiva a try is (1) they have a 30 day trial run period. If you are not happy with the SQ performance, you can return for a refund. (2) by buying new over used, the amp/pre-amp comes with a warranty and from a company with a great customer service track record.

I am considering adding their BasX A-300 to my Yamaha AVR for both 2 channel and surround sound.

I'm looking at the BasX-A300 too. Need to take the load of the S60 off my AVR

Emotiva has grown since I purchased my amp in 2009. They now have a lot of what is reported to be great products. One thing for sure is a very high level build quality. Not unlike Polk in that arena.
