OK, someone just e-mailed this photo to me -- seems like a good thing to share here:

    gqbq6lchz2ds.jpg

Lots of moving mass -- but that's one way to minimize tracking error ;)

For those who aren't familiar with it -- the turntable in the photo is a Fairchild 750: possibly the finest turntable ever made.

Are these any good? Sorry, I don't have a clue.

I have no idea. KLH made quality items. Not so sure of what electronics are in this. We'll have to wait for our vintage guru, Doc. Mark, to show up with something. :) To clarify, I did not buy it, I saw it on-line.

Yep, Model 24, plenty of them on Ebay, around the same price. They must have sold a bunch of them.

The KLH all-in-ones were very decent; a step up from the standard compact hifis of their day (mid-late 1960s, indeed). The Garrard changers on them are more or less a write-off (I'd opine), but the FM tuners are very good. The matching KLH speakers, though, arguably, the "big value" part of the package -- especially from a 21st Century perspective.

A couple have passed through here -- one is still here somewhere in the basement. They tend to need some work at this late date, in my experience.
I wouldnt' pay 79 smackers for one (FWIW).

From www.radioshackcatalogs.com (1967). The one on this catalog page scan is the FM-only version (KLH 24).

some other KLH conusmer hifi products from 1967 (while we're on the subject):
    061.jpg

If the database at www.classicspeakerpages.net is to be believed, the AM/FM version was called the KLH 27.

As one more FYI/FWIW, these are the KLH 24 loudspeakers that would have gone with the all-in-one unit. Amusingly, these photos are at classicspeakerpages, but they're photos I took of a dump find KLH 24 that I used to have. I don't remember if I shared them with the site, or if someone else put 'em there

    klh24_front-2.jpeg

Unassuming little acoustic suspension 8" two-way; these are very pleasantly musical little loudspeakers to listen to, with virtually no collectors' cachet (i.e., if you find a pair, they should be cheap!).

The KLH 32 speakers were remarkably pleasant to listen to little speakers as well. The Harvard, MA town dump turned up a pair of those once, too :)

If you guys remember I posted a while back about my vintage Pioneer 305 headphones. Well, 1 side totally cut out and I replaced them w/ these vintage Koss -Pro 747b models. For sure they weigh more but do give a much more life like sound w/ good bass and pretty adjustable. What year are they from well I have to do some research. I got them for $24 w/ free shipping on E-Bay. Hey I tried and instead I found this wacky PDF from American Ad History w/ hundreds of vintage ads in this, ala Doc Hardy's vintage ad spectaculars.

Seems to be the common ailment of headphones of most vintage brands. Usually the cord efs up. I didn't get that out of the older Pioneers deads ville on one whole side.

Vintage... I have a Sansui AU-6900 (rebuilt by me new components) and a Sansui FR-1080. My dad was the original owner. The Sansui has no problems driving a pair of Elac Debut B6.

Nice, and nice amplifier. Thanks for sharing a photo of it!

FWIW, only one Sansui amplifier here, and it's a pretty unprepossessing example of their genre.

True enough -- the TU-717 doesn't impress me much sonically, though (which is why it's sittin' on the shelf). The AU-717 was/is a pretty darned good integrated amplifier.
