Not to poo poo on this but my thoughts think of ring and weight. Will they create some sort of ring or will the extra weight compromise the integrity of the cabinet?
On the finish. I've seen our painters at work use a special tool on metal doors and frames to make them look like wood, grain and all. Very hard to tell its metal after their done.

If you are making end caps, might I suggest that you mod the bases to accommodate some sort of spike system that allows for leveling without having to be under the speaker to do it? Put me down for a set of caps and side panels please.
I saw this leveling approach at the bottom of "RED" Focal speakers.
I doubt these will be for sale down the road, the material is pricey, add labor, and the cost to ship them, it will get quite expensive...
Have to give Brian a big thanks for wanting to machine these for me, he has learned a lot working at the shop, and is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet...

That is going to look absolutely fantastic.

Larry that's great work
Nothing IMO, I think it would look good, but I think I will go for the brushed aluminum look with a clear coat for now..
Spectacular Larry...as usual.
