As long as you have access to Ken Swauger, you really don't "need" this thread!

Wonder how 'Ugly Custard' sounds on this?

-
1. ummm, it looks like fun. I saw the "t" word in there, though -- soiled state.

2. Yes, Pumpkinman, it is a true fact. We spun you around a few times, blindfolded, so that you could not disclose the actual spatial location, however.

SDS 400's in the house! (with makeshift interconnect)

well, that Pioneer's a golden oldie!

Nice furniture, too (the chest or desk or dresser to the right, under the speaker).

Room treatments come in many forms.

I think (??) it is an SX-9000; if so, then, yes, it does:
At or near the top of its line, early 1970s

-
SX-9000 circa 1969. yes it does, but it is a little scratchy if you turn it up. A little dab of reverb will do ya anyway. Everything else works great!
-
Yep, SX-9000.

back when Radio Shack had real gear and not phones and RC cars.... The old Radio Shack Super Tweeters sold for 10.00 each I see them all the time selling for 100.00-150.00 each now.
-
for anyone who (still) might not know of these two sites, but who might also pine for the days when Allied Radio & Radio Shack (yes) sold McIntosh & Marantz, here's something to do for the next few days

I thought this was cool. 1940's style and technology. -
Hey, if it weren't for that "1940s technology" -- we might not now be writing and speaking English, if you catch my drift

ahem -- sorry.
Now, where was I?
Oh, yeah.
This is a serious hodgepodge, but, on the average, vintage enough, I think, to qualify for posting here

Altec 802D 1" compression driver, a "bored out"
JBL 1" to 2" throat adaptor, a 2" Community 90 x 60 degree horn (model may, or may not, be BRH-90), topped off with a somewhat-less-vintage Fostex T90A horn 'supertweeter' (and padded, first order XO).
half of a stereo pair.

A superb tuner is the S-2000 (AM & FM both).
I wouldn't worry too much about leaving it on if the P/S electrolytics have been replaced. If they have -- yeah, I wouldn't leave home with it turned on.

Yup, I knew that -- there's one here, too.

BTW, I concur. I'd rather listen to high-quality FM mono than mediocre FM stereo.
I did, after many years, actually break down and go stereo last year, though.

naah. It does sound a little better than the Sherwoods, though. It betters the Sherwoods in the bass (qualitatively and quantitatively). Otherwise, pretty much a toss-up.
I cannot afford any of the holy grail tuners. If I could, I'd have an HH Scott 310E or a REL Precedent.
The absolute best sounding tuner I've heard with my own ears is a Scott 310E owned by one of the northern New England tube hifi gurus.
