Just wrapped up my first pass at a new to me CD from Lynyrd Skynyrd, "Skynyrd's First: The Complete Muscle Shoals Album". Have to say I was very impressed. Very good stuff musically and SQ-wise... Yes, the version of "Free Bird" you know is better than this earlier one, but this is not your typical "alternate takes" disappointment.

Stumbled across it surfing BMG, and the AMG review sold me. If you are a LS fan, give it a shot...
    More later,

Eagles of Death Metal - Already Died.

It's been stuck in my head for a couple of days now. I have no idea why my head chose that song. It's there when I wake up and it's there when I go to sleep. It's a good song but there are better on the album.

Eagles of Death Metal is a Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age side project. It's some great foot stomping and head boppin Rock and Roll.

To paraphrase Robert Duval, "I love the sound of 'Gold' in the morning. It sounds like Victory."

Moved onto to Supertramp "Breakfast in America"... nice...

Played "Genius of Love" track off Tom Tom Club's self-titled to avoid a gap... gettin' the blood pumpin' now...

Now spinnin' a wife request, "World Clique" by Dee-Lite... Cranked it up so RuSsman can hear it in Dallas... :D

    Actually it was a WR....

If you like "Groove...", you'd love the CD. IMO "Groove.." is around the 2nd weakest track on the disk... Pure fluff, pure fun... Best CD cut-out-bin buy I've ever made...

The Black Keys - "Rubber Factory"

I heard this band for the first time this last Saturday and immediately picked up two of their three albums. Check them out if you get the chance.

Well, I guess I'll have to pick it up and give it a try. It's $10 at the local big box store.

Lately, I've been absolutely hooked on The Beastie Boys for their funky instrumentals. Hello Nasty got me started and I had to pick up a few others.

It was my birthday yesterday and lit one up with a whole lot of shooters and woke up feeling surprisingly fine.
