After owning these speakers for over two years, I finally get the whole SDA experience. I recently completed all updates and special thanks to David (westmassguy) for all his help and expertise. I don't have anything too special (Yamaha PC2002M, Parasound P5) but they all seem to work together beautifully. Couldn't be happier with the results.

One question, if fed a mono signal with the IC disconnected, if I pan to one side, I hear sound but all the way to the opposite, no sound at all. Just curious on why this happens.

Tony, double check the ground leads for the woofers. It's easy to cross wire them if you're not careful.

    Hi David

I did the battery test and they all moved together. And in stereo, everything seems right.

In mono, with or without the IC connected, all the way left ,both speakers play and all the way to the right, no sound. It sounds correct in stereo, to me.

With WHAT "in mono"? The source? The preamp?

Something isn't right. Sounds like your mono/stereo switching is faulty.

Connect just one speaker to the stereo at a time and move the balance L/C/R. Connect the same speaker to the other channel only and balance test again.

Sometimes the wires get crossed (user error). Sometimes the previous owner dinks with the internals of the stereo.
    Carver TX-11b - Carver 4000t - Carver TFM45 x2 - Polk SDA SRS 2 (094 tweets) - RSL CG 8^2 (Howard's XO upgrade + driver upgrade = 350w rms and amazeball toanz)

It was the amp. I'm sure glad I have Larry's rings after several driver pulls ! All is well, presently. :)
