Having just purchased a new to me set of Polk SDA 1C's and unable to leave anything alone I noticed some extensive modding being done. Although the Polks sound amazing my OCD says...but what if? I contacted westmassguy and he introduced me to this forum and suggested I join. I have already ordered some new silk tweeters to tame the high end and look forward to the journey. Just wanted to introduce myself, and if everyone is half as helpful as westmassguy I will be around for some time to come.

    I'm both scared and excited to "have my sac blown back". Crossovers will be next in the pipeline but first things first...I have to sell some things on the black market..who needs two kidneys. Thanks for the welcome

    Dave's done most of my Crossovers and he is awesome about helping others with any info they need to do their own or with excellent advise to help them with any project they are on etc...

    Most of us here don't hesitate to call on him for help we know will always be there and he always checking on the forum to see if he can help someone.

    I just replaced one the tweeters on my 2Bs a couple of days ago with the RDO-194 tweeter. The other speaker already had the upgraded tweeter in it. After rewiring the existing RDO-194 correctly (original owner plugged it out of phase), now both speakers sound very well balanced and the mids and highs are very smooth. I may rethink about replacing the existing components on the crossovers to take it to the next level as you say.

    I'll just add my affirmation to what has already been said about David/westmassguy. You're in good hands with him. I've worked with David on a few of my speaker projects.. and he always has your best interest at heart. The fact that he hearkens from NE Patriots territory, and I'm over here in Latte Land/Seattle... says a lot about his technical acumen and business integrity that I'm able to over look this regional(OK, NFL!) issue. lol.

    Right now I have the Polks running off an Emotiva XPA-2 (plenty of juice to get the Polks singing) with a Rotel RSX-1055 as a preamp...my center is a B&W HTM4 that is the only piece left from my B&W system...yes that's right...the Polks reign supreme! There are a few subs in rotarion but right now i dont feel the need to hook em up. I'm running the center off a B&K ST2140...I'm contemplating selling the center for a better timbre match with the Polk fronts. Who knows.... Its all part of the fun.... And madness I think we all have come to accept
