The saga continues. Received my replacement copy today from Music Direct, the hub is already cracked and there are fingerprint smudges on the play side as well as slight scuff marks. Phone calls will be made first thing Monday.

Nope, I'm not putting a disc with fingerprints and scuffs on it in either of my SACD players.

I just fired off an email to Music Direct requesting yet another copy, brand new this time and I'm not paying to ship this one back either.

This is making me want to wait a long time before ordering this SACD just to let them get this worked out Jesse. There is no excuse for this. Sorry for the pain in the a$$ you are facing Jesse.

That said, maybe have them ship you 10 of them and hopefully one of them will come off the hub (which won't be broken) and will have no fingerprints or other defects. :/

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

After some discussion, Music Direct is issuing a refund and sent a shipping label.

So, I was passing by a local record store today and stopped in to buy a copy from them. They only had the CD and the Blu-ray/CD combo. In fact, I couldn't find a single SACD in there. Oh well, guess it's back to buying online again.

That said, I was pleasantly surprised to see quite a number of college kids in there buying CD's. Smart kids to recognize the value of physical ownership.

Good idea, but I don't think anything is going to change. AS said they had 15,000 of these made, so I have to imagine they are all the same and I seriously doubt they will repackage them. At this point I'm hoping to get one without a pre-cracked hub, get the disc off then carefully file down the hub.

I forgot about this. There will be a Japanese issued version of this SACD coming out, so I think I'll just wait for that one. I assume it will be the same mastering, but does anyone know for sure?

I never did a follow up. I purchased the Japanese SACD version. No hub issue at all. That said, I prefer the Mastersound gold CD version of this album. The SACD lacks the punch and dynamics of the gold CD.

Never had the pleasure of hearing the Mastersound. Was always way to spendy. I do like the vinyl over the SACD. Looking forward to the 45.
