Monitor 7B Question

The PR has the gray paper/cardboard ring and the MW does not. Wood this indicate that one or the other has been replaced? Or is this a way Polk may have put this speaker together?4ipcpgjsjkkk.jpg

I believe those are 7A's, they have the peerless tweeter.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I suppose that's possible. You could pull the driver and post a shot of the back here. Then any number of members could chime in.

Till then, here is a shot from the Polk archives of what I think they should look like (someone correct me if I am wrong).

That is a Polk mid in any case. But the question is, is it the right one?

The driver should be an MW-6502. Pull it and check the part number. The PR on the 7A definitely had that metal ring.

Although.... If I zoom in close on your photo, I'm noticing a gap between the tweeter cutouts in the cabinets and the Peerless tweeters. The SL-2000 that would have been in the 7B is slightly larger than the Peerless, so it is possible that those are 7B's and someone replaced the SL-2000 with peerless. I'll let others opine here.....

They are 100 miles from me. Thinking about buying but didn't want to waste a trip.

I have a pair that looks similar but I replaced the MWs. Just make sure they are 6502s.

One time I looked at a pair of 10s and they had 3 different MW. Thee only way to know is to pull them.
