Not really...your typical newish home with 200A service is 24,000VA/24kVA. Still a helluva lot of juice! -

Wel, it depends on if the homes are total electric, how far away from the pot they are (for flicker and voltage drop) and how you figure the diversity factor. I had in mind for a medium-sized house right around 1500sq ft. We at the power company size them for the actual load, not necesarily the service size.

But, no, I am using the standard bearings and not replacing your drive with an air bearing. I could spray it with an air compressor before I close it up though.
