sda 2b power handling question

hey! it's been eons since I posted here!

anyway, my sda 2btl's, with upgraded coils, sometimes at extreme volumes develop a crackle on one of the inside 6.5 drivers..im running an adcom gfa555..does this sound like I'm hitting the limit as far as current goes?
BTW when I do hear this crackle, my feet don't even touch the ground, I'm on that volume control so fast;)

thanks
mike

Try switching driver with other speaker & see if it follows

I ran the same amp with my 2b's & it sounded wonderful. I never went that loud with them. It could be the driver is heating up or other issues need to be ruled out

No. You've got a defective driver--or perhaps something internal to the speaker is rattling around (untethered wiring, for example). If this were an amp problem, it wouldn't be limited to a single driver.

If the issue follows that driver in another cabinet, time to get replacement.

Sounds like you have a driver that has a weak spider.

Or the VC former has come undone.
My RTA-11t driver was like that.
Spider was fine but the VC coil attachment was ripped in few places around.
