Polk Audio PSW10 blowing fuse

Hi I just received this subwoofer today from eBay and as soon as I plug it into the socket with an adapter (I'm in the UK) the fuse blows. Now I tried changing the fuse myself and tried 2 fuses. I also changed the fuse on the adapter to a 3amp and the fuse in the subwoofer still blown. I'm lost as what to do now, any suggestions on what will get it to work? Thanks In advance.

    A friend of mine suggested a surge protector. Would this work?

    I hate to say this but you may have caused damage to the unit, defently get a step down transformer and hope for the best but in my experience after the second fuse or so it may be toast. Some switchers have a zener diode of sorts that will clamp the over voltage to ground and blow the main fuse, sometimes this diode survives other times it shorts. If it's just a standard transformer PSU you may be in luck

    Which transformer would work, is it the 100va, 100watt transformer. I'm slighted confused as to which transformer to buy.

    If my math works va is volts times amps so 1 amp x 120volts gives 120va, that's an easy one. If cost is an problem the 100va transformer is a little underrated but should work for testing, the max draw would be well, when it's very loud. but if you can afford it just get the next size up on the transformer.
    IMHO the 100va should work but it might run a bit warmer under load (for testing that's what i would do, but for normal use get the next size up)

    I've tried it with this transformer and it still doesn't work. Is the product maybe faulty?

    Yes i would think that would work, 300 watts is enough for your sub. If the sub is still blowing fuses with that listed adapter i would send it in for service
