    Are there any surge protectors that are helpful for those of us with 1920's-style house wiring and ungrounded receptacles?

    But yes a whole house surge protector is the #1 most important element to protection of your equipment.

    As long as you have a breaker box and AC power line coming in the best way to protect electronics is a surge protector installed at the breaker box.
