Thats a very nice looking tv , I like the thick frame around it

I was under the impression that these could not be purchased anymore ? Where did you score it from ?

Whats the native contrast ratio ?

    Thanks man.
You can't just get one anymore , you have to know someone who knows someone who had one demoing or what have you to score one. There are a few still floating around in boxes but your going to pay for it. It's worth it it's the very best TV ever made even compared to anything available now. I much rather have this over a Panasonic VT series or Samsung 8000. Both Plasma Tv's are very nice and have 3D and all , IP control which is very hot but they don't have the depth , color , black levels that this does. ISF calibration is a breeze on this model and comes out of the box near perfect.
    Nothing else does.

Definitive Technology Mythos ST mains , Mythos 10 Center , Mythos 10 Rears.
Dual subs are built into the towers , I have no need for another sub. These 2 wreck my room and sound good in any seat. I get very even coverage.

She is without a shadow of a doubt the very best TV I have ever seen and is why I held out for one. Color and detail is off the charts. It looks real with good video. Blacks are black. Motion is a non issue. The Size is perfect for my room. I sit about 14 feet away. If I had the cash and if the new 70 inch is as good as I have heard , that would be the only replacement I could see for this model.

Pioneer hit it out of the park when they went with Kuro Scalers. I have not seen anything better or as good at any price.

An awesome set there Dan. Looks like you waited quite some time on that. But it looks great! Nice room too! I am appropriately envious as I'm still running an old style monster HDTV CRT RPTV with your Red, Green, Blue tubes and 1080i limitations as the main set (we have a 32" LCD in the bedroom). Have to wait till that dies before my better half agrees to an upgrade.

    Enjoy!

When I watch a Harry Potter flick, I switch it in torch mode and it blows my mind.
    Congrats on the new baby.

If you can find one , don't hesitate , it's worth it's weight in gold. It's a complete honor to own something of this caliber.

Most who have them will not part . Maybe the new Elite will better it in some ways and some will upgrade. Then you will have the chance to own greatness.

I liked your room decor better when it was done up in Kung-Fu Chewy fashion.

Gratz on the tv. I hear the ones that are coming out are going to be crazy expensive. I got mine at a great price. I'm just collecting stuff for my eventual home. lol. Hopefully by the spring I'll have my own place. So far I've got the 60 inch Elite, Sunfire 5x425, Polk SRT's.
    I feel kinda priviledged myself.

Nice setup Dan. I see great minds think alike. Our setups are the same. (mythos, elite tv/receiver & oppo). Just sold my 50" Kuro plasma but will keep my 60"elite till it dies. I think the new VT series are pretty close.

Looks to me like you have the makings of a hell of a system. SRT's are also a privilege to own. I would love to score a full SRT system with the latest surround offerings they had. Sunfire is Sunfire , can't go wrong there and to top it off with a 60 Kuro is just amazing.
    Good job my friend.

I posted on your thread about that. The VT30 is close and has all the latest 3D and Streaming going on so it gets a star there man. Plus you can get 5 more inches from the 60 so thats another Star.

Let me / us know which way you go.

Going the the VT30, this will be replacing my 50 pioneer. My 60 isn't going anywhere.

Which 60" elite did you buy?

Congrats and enjoy. Now get down stairs and finnish that room.

    Dave,
when the money is flowing enough don't worry that basement will get finished. It's been a life long dream of mine and I have to fulfill it the way I want or I don't do it. I could have built it on the cheap but I want it exactly how I designed it and I believe it's going to be worth all this waiting and dreaming.

    Leroyjr1 ,
No I have not I didn't know they hit the stores. We didn't get ours we are getting one of each on the floor. If Best Buy already has them , I'm going there today to check them out. Now that I have an Elite myself I have a very good reference to compare it to. If I was going to buy a new Tv right now , I would absolutely wait until I got my eyes on these babies , not to mention have the money as they are costly. Worth it we shall see. If anyone can perfect LED , Pioneer and Sharp are the 2 companies to do it.

The lighting was far from perfect but the blacks seemed perfect. The best I've ever seen. Did it show a $8000 picture? IMO no.
