Pioneer elite making a huge comeback!!!!

Sharp has mentioned that unlike other back-lit panels, the Elite models have more LEDs which means they can control a smaller area than other brands. That should make for an interesting display.
Again, these are NOT Pioneer displays, but Sharp. Sharp got a number of Pioneer engineers to work on their LED technology to improve them. There will never be another Pioneer Kuro Plasma type display. -

I agree completely. I've just always felt that plasmas have a much softer, more natural picture. Backlighting in plasma's has always seemed better to me too. Now that the burn-in issues of the older plasma's is basically a dead issue, there's no reason to take an LCD over a plasma IMO. To each their own, but that's always been my take on it.The nirvana inducer-

Plasma gives me all the warm and fuzzy feelings watching movies. They also doubles as space heater in the winter months too.Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin:

Very surprised you didn't pick up a Kuro when Pioneer discontinued them. The 60" was going for less than $5000 brand new even at the local shops if you could find one. As in the know and connected as you are, I would have thought you'd jump all over one as the price came down. Especially as excited as you are for the "$8000" ones that may or may not exceed the quality of the original Kuros.
By the time I was ready to buy one , they where all sold out and spoken for. I really wan't ready as I just lost my job , switched to another company and had things going on at the time. Still I wanted one and didn't get one.Dan

The "ELITE" name comes rom Pioneer and so does some of the technology going into this set from what I understand. But yes they are Sharp brand Elite tv's.
I'm still excited to see one in person.Dan

And thats ok , there is always Wallmart for others who feel it's to much. Not everyone purchased Elite Kuro's back in the day.Dan

I now they are Sharp but Elite is a Pioneer brand and has been for years. They are not Plasma but LED as I also know. I'm not ignoring anything. Pioneer has a lot to do with this project. Thats enough for me.You keep ignoring that these are not Pioneer TV's. They're Sharp, finally using led backlit technology. Something other manufacturers have been doing for a few years now.Dan

I announced this alittle while ago. And even though they are not Plasma (which IMO will be phased out) they should be a nice piece. Right now I will put the Samsung 8000 series with 240hz up against anything out there right now. The plasmas I have looked at have a jerky pic with any scrolling ticker at the bottem of the screen which also transends to the action on the screen. All that makes my eyes hurt and burn after a while and that is just not cool at all in my book, with todays tech. we should be past all that. The Sammy 8000 series is the smoothest most vibrant and sharp set out there bar none.

Hey Dave,
Actually I'm very guarded about this. I have known about this and I'm not all that excited. if Pioneer was coming out with new technology , I would be al in but LCD LED is flawed technology. I know if anyone is going to get it right , Pioneer would be the ones to do it.
They perfected Plasma technology and that benchmark still stands today. Samsung and Sony are doing wonderful jobs with LED but the blur is horrible. I get a headache from it. So do many of my customers.

Not yet but I would require at least a 65" at the least. I almost pulled the trigger on the Elite when they were going out but the size biggest reason I didn't.

If you're near a Best Buy, you can find one of them 65" TC-P65VT30 at the Magnolia section. Try it with the THX setting, I love that color reproduction, very theater-like.Gears shared to both living room & bedroom:

I have Installed the brand new VT30 65 inch tv a few times now. It's pretty damn sweet. It looks kinds like a big iPhone. The set is much heavier then I expected. I was thinking since it's thinner it would be lighter. It feels like a tank. Good built quality tank like in a good way.
Dave,
I'm not sure what to expect as I don't like LCD / LED anything. I think it has really good video quality until something moves. Then like you I get a headache and so does many of my customers. It's sad in todays technology LCD / LED tv's can't get it right. Screw 240 hz motion they should be able to get it done at 60. I think this is one of the reasons for the POP UP KIDS BOOK LOOK you see on all LED tv's today.
Samsung makes very nice Plasmas and much better then their LED's IMO. I like Plasma much more then LED.
We shall see what Pioneer and Sharp did with this new set. I Just read that the official prices is going to be 5500 for the 60 and 8000 for the 70. That's much better then the original prices I heard. Pioneer Reps are pushing these sets which makes me believe that Pioneer has a lot invested in them. No body is officially saying one way or another. I hate all this sneaky stuff , just elfin tell me whats up already.Dan

I think the video processing in these techno. sets are and have been since the begining of the thin sets piss poor. I agree they should get it right at 60hz given the films rate it should be plenty. but it just isn't so and will never be until they (the manuf.) get off their high horse and do something if the plasma's rate is over 600hz there should be absolutely no reason for any jerky images but there still is if you look at the rolling ticker at the bottom of the screen (the Elite did it best IMO nice and smooth). It should be as smooth as silk. I know there are other veriables shuch as the stations broadcasting equipment so forth and so on. but the fact still remains that the CRT TV's have been the better performers with all that. What the manuf. have done to fight the problem is to tweek the Hz of the sets weather they are really putting out what they claim (neither I or anyone here can verify with 100% certianty). They just put an image inbetween the next image to help smooth the transition (if you can follow that). they all do it one way or another Samsung IMO has been the best so far and for me they are smooth in the moving images.

Installed a Samsung 64 plasma 8000 and it performed much better than LED 8000 side by side comparison before we moved the LED 8000 to another room...and I expected that...I almost purchased the plasma for myself...till I heard the news of the Elite we will soon see

I compared it to the Samsung 8000 plasma and the Panny VT30 and GT30 plasmas. All 3 had a better picture than the LCD.The plasmas I have looked at have a jerky pic with any scrolling ticker at the bottem of the screen which also transends to the action on the screen. Dave

Always good to see technology advance. Now, wait for the 2nd generation with better performance, at a lower price.
Also, apparently this not a Pioneer Elite, but still Sharp. Maybe Pioneer will resell them.

Kevin states---"If you want the very best in an LED based LCD flat panel in a very large screen size, then one of the two Elite models is definitely what you are looking for."
Still need a side by side plasma comparison
My only issue is when a customer does not have controlled lighting LED performs better than a plasma---so no matter what plasma not always ideal anyway2-channel: Modwright KWI-200 Integrated, Dynaudio C1-II Signatures

Besides having blackout curtains, I generally make the sun go down about 9 during the summer anyways. In the winter, it's too damn cold outside so I usually set it earlier than that.
I also took notice of the quote "If you want the very best in an LED based LCD flat panel" - that's a little too narrow of a range if you ask me. That's like saying "If you want the very best of a 4 cylinder vehicle...." It doesn't really sum up the big picture65" Sony X900 (XBR-65X900E)

Pioneer Rep sent us infer on the new sets , Seems like Pioneer is doing the selling. Seems also like they have a Pioneer model number.
