Who ever said tubes don't have bass have not listened to these yet.

I've never heard anyone, or read anyone, say that tube amps don't have bass. The comments I heard and read were from individuals who said that the tube amps they auditioned didn't have as tight, articulate and well defined bass compared to solid state amps of the same design quality and build quality.

The same thing is said of differences in bass performance between MOSFET and BJT transistors, with BJT's having more slam, articulation, tightness and definition and MOSFET's being more "tubelike".

I put a 7,600$ bid on it know i would be out bid just so I could say i bid on them :). Also, I asked Bob about the schematics and transformers and if they will become available. He said the schematics will be available within the next two weeks and he is going to try and find an easier way to wind the transformers. So I'm thinking about building a set of these for my self.
If life had more tubes it would be a lot smoother.

That tubes have NO bass? Yes, it's a ridiculous statement Engtaz. Maybe you need more experience with them or should read more closely.

F#ckin nice... No way in hell I'd have paid that much for the paint, though, nice as it is.

What I think is cool is how he is going to put up the schematics for anyone to use. You need his transformers, but very doable for the common man, ya know???

Bob just won't use that guy again....simple. There are other sources for chassis work, heck he should contact our resident paint work expert.

I'm nominating DK's post for "Understatement of the Year"
I would think that the target market for these amps is very well insulated from the bad economy.

I'd be sweating the "$360" shipping charge.

Ego? L O L....when did you start taking things so personal? The comment was directed at another persons' comment originally but you picked up the slack for some reason. Don't worry about answering since I'm sure you have no idea. Boy, this place sure turned into sensitive pants central this week.

I talk with Bob almost daily at this point... The painter is a world renown artist who's work has been featured on just about every auto/motorcycle custom show there is on tv or print magazine... the guy painted a set of fenders and fuel tank for a custom Harley that belonged to a friend of mine 12 years ago and the price then was 10K.

Given what I know about these amps(a hell of a lot) Bob got exactly what he asked for, which was the very best paint job he could get. You must also remember that there are 4 chassis for these amps, and each one recieved the same attention to detail as anything else the guy paints. Believe it or not, the painter matters even more than the paint.

These amps were build with the intent of them being Bob's personal amps and something he would never sell, so he went all out on these in every respect.

I can dig that, but I still stand by what I said. No way I would have paid that just for someone's reputation (the skill is unquestioned).
