It is interesting that those who come in to purchase seldom ask our opinion on tv's; generally they already have a predetermined idea or brand preference and that's fine. Frankly, the top brands are all the same although Panasonic seems to have the best plasma with Samsung closing. I do like the new Samsung LED "SMART" tv's and they have such small footprints now they look awesome.
No offense to you, but a lot of employees at BB have no clue when it comes to TV's and why people probably don't ask and do their research first and make up their mind before buying.
Things I have heard BB employees tell people just blow my mind..

grif32....I couldn't agree with you more. I am old and old school so I take advantage of BB's learning lounge....lots of great info and training and why most don't take advantage of it is beyond me.

Had a rear projection Mitsu for ten+ years. Never a problem with the thing.
Have had my Panny Plasma for a couple now and it is fine. Will be upgrading to a bigger Plasma and putting this one in the bedroom. -
Shame because in the industry Sony has the lowest failure rate out of all products across the board. They are also one of the highest rated custom Install products over the last decade.
I have nothing but respect for their company.
The only TVs that have fail for me have been Sonys 3 so far. The best in terms of longevity has been a Toshiba. I have 2 50" Panasonic Plasmas that have been going strong for about 3 years. Now I can buy the same Panasonics for less than half what I paid for these. My Sony XBR 32" had the best picture by far but it failed after 5yrs and wasn't economically repairable.TO ERR IS HUMAN. TO FORGIVE IS CANINE.
