Im considering buying a used pair of the Tyler Acoustics Taylo 7u but have never heard them.

Can anyone tell me how they compare to dynaudio audience 70s? That is what I have had for the past 2 years and enjoy them but want to try something new. Bored!
The only thing I noticed that I dont like is the height. They are 46" which is alittle tall for my tv mounted on the wall.
But I can sacrifice if they are worth it. ;)

I have a pair,, with the scanspeak revelator tweeter,, they image well(not as well as the monitors,IMHO),the mids are quite nice,,bass is adequate,,soundstage is very good,,they are relatively efficient, but respond very well to high current/power sand amps,,and tubes in the 60 + watt range,,what else can I tell you,,, eh,, placement is kinda critical, but when you get em' dialed in,you'll know it.Good luck,,nice speakers.

What music do they play best? Also how do they compare to other speakers you have tried.

Hell of a deal, man. Nice snag. While I haven't heard the Dynaudio's to compare, I don't think you'll be disappointed at all.

George Daniel turned me on to the Tyler Acoustics Taylos Reference Monitors and I have been enjoying them ever since. I am very impressed with the sound from these "little boxes."

Congratulations and I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy the pair that I have.

Thanks. It seems when people buy tyler acoustics they tend to keep them or upgrade within the lineup. That says alot. Im sure there are many brands of speakers that create the same sensation. Dynaudio being one example.

I had the Dynaudio Focus 220 and upgraded to the Tyler Acoustic Linbrooks. It was a significant upgrade. I'm sure you'll be happy with your Tylers.

Im anticipating a big upgrade from the dyns. If that is the case Im sure I will be content for a few months.. lol Or until next winter. I get cabin fever from being indoors in the winter and usually spend a rediculous amount of time researching stuff of interest online, which usually consist of electrionics or audio gear.. I wonder if I lived in a warm place would I have my audio addiction? I am thankful for winter, but my fiance and bank account are not.

Mine have the scanspeak tweeters. Good to hear another positive experience. What speakers have you compared them to?

You really need to upgrade your speakers. If I had upgraded my 7u speakers I probably would have kept them. I am here to tell ya the Clarity MR works magic on the Millennium tweeter.

Why? Does anything not cut it anymore in stock form, period? Everything MUST be 'mod'?

It's getting old, honestly. Everyone that can soldier with some disposable income has a golden ear suddenly. Not pointing fingers in this thread, but this thread pushed me over the 'mod' edge tonight. What happened to listening to music? Did everything else get caps filled with dried tiger ****? Your amps, pre, sources? Are the shaolin silver string submarine monks booked for the rest of the year? Can I get a circle jerk please?

Then why did anyone even fathom paying this side of FOUR GRAND for that pair of speakers to begin with?

    Rediculous.

Because at that price they are as good if not better than alot of things in that price point?

With the right upgrades they can easily compete with the 10-15,000 market. All day.

    Not just my opinion either.

How much do the upgrades cost? If reasonable it would seem to be advantageous for Tyler to offer those speakers with the upgrade since they would be so much better.

A full Clarity MR upgrade? $1,800 in caps alone... the extra binding post bring it up another 400...

I spent another 1,000 on mine and the difference is well beyond Wilson Audio Sophia range - only speaker my auditory memory has heard better is the Alexandria.

The problem from a product stand point after your factor that cost in you are talking a huge jump in price realistically.

Now Ty will put those parts in there for you but you are talking 6-7,000 dollar speakers.

Is it worth it? 100% - Ty just tries to keep his stuff affordable, but like I said he will put anything you want in it.

If you can pick up his gear used and sink another 1,500+ in it you can get a set of speakers that will make you smile ;)

So can everything apparently. Can anything be enjoyed in non mod form? When will the mod crowd get SERIOUS about it, and stop tweaking what engineers spent countless hours on, and make their own statement product?

How many 10-15K speakers have you actually heard broham? Half a dozen? Seriously. Don't even go there. If they REALLY could compete at that level, across the board, why wouldn't said (any) manufacturer spend the couple hundred bucks, then charge 3 to 4 times the price?

**** pipes, not all of you, but most of you. 1992 civic, turned racecar with a coffee can on the **** end. Says who? Says you.

Son, you should have bought some different speakers. If it takes the cost of decent used car to bring them up to speed, your head is in the clouds. So you spent much more on modding the crossover, than the drivers themselves cost, essentially?

    Glory be the mod.

    How many? A hand full.

I've also heard a hand full of 100,000 dollar speakers. I can tell you the sound I am experience on a daily basis for under 6,000 is not to far off.

I would without problem put anything under 20,000 in here and feel confident on who would walk away.

    Russ...

The Polk LSiM tower is the price of a used car at 4,000 a pair. I can also tell you from what I heard the LSiM has a long way to go to be in the same ball park with the Tyler 7u. IMO.

That tweeter is weak compared to the revelator. Again, my opinion.

Now I am sure if you took out that one dollar capacitor and 50 cent resistor on the LSiM you might up the performance a few notches.

It is what it is. You can say I am crazy - but I have spent PLENTY more on electronics and cables and the differences these crossovers made was LEAPS and BOUNDS above those upgrades. Not to mention cheaper.

So while I might be crazy I can confidently say I have found my last set of speakers that I can afford. You can take that one to the bank! ;)
