I have seen accessories4less.com mentioned here before and of course J&R too. Where else should i look for a denon 3310/3311 or onkyo 708/808?

    I like Amazon because of my experience with their customer service and easy return policy. Their prices on the things I've looked at seem to be competitive with other dealers. YMMV.

    I'm surprised I got so many lame search the internet and www.google.com answers. The point of the question was to get insight on stores that were popular with forum members. I architect and build ecommerce websites. Of course I can use google. Google doesn't tell me what you all prefer.

    Besides the places you had mentioned - I would certainly give Amazon and BH Photo a try. I've bought quite a bit from them (audio, video, and DSLR-wise).

    This really won't apply to you too much, but since I am in the market for Elite products - I am going through a "local" company that will do business with me over the phone for warranty purposes. That's an option for non-online models that require you to purchase from an authorized vendor for warranty purposes.

    I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but really the best option is to just google it and see what comes up in the shopping area. Obviously stay away from "www.cheaper-chinese-products-for-less-than-everyone-else.com", but other than that - common sense would dictate where is a safe bet, and where isnt. If you find something you like - you can certainly run it back through us for an OK, but it's going to be tough to just tell you where to go as the prices fluxuate from day to day almost.

    I have used Amazon as well. I usually price shop first, then see which customer service rep will cut me the best deal once I present the facts. I bought my receiver brand new from a company for essentially ebay prices. I shopped around, did my homework and it paid off.

    When it comes to Denon you should only buy from an authorized retailer or etailer or you will be screwed on the warranty. Go to their website and look for the sites they allow for the warranty.

    I bought my Denon AVR-3311ci from Crutchfield. Obviously, I spent a little more, but they have good customer service and they're an authorized dealer.

    But otherwise, if you do a search on pricegrabber for the particular model you're looking for, you should see a good number of (r)e-tailers listed. You can check their sites and also the reviews for their sites to get an idea of whether you should buy from them.

    I'm kinda partial to purchasing the Onkyo 808 from NewEgg today at the $699 (no tax and free shipping) offer I got today. The Denon 3311 might be better and have more features, but I can't get it at that price.

    I would check out Crutchfield.com. They have outstanding customer service, free shipping, are an authorized dealer, and they have a fantastic return policy. They are offering the Onkyo 808 for the same price as newegg.

    I prefer Onkyo over Denon due to better built quality and custom features. I suggest buying for a local store like best buy , 6th ave etc. I have heard to many horror stories from receiver purchases online.

    I use (in order of preference) BH Photo, J&R, and Crutchfield exclusively for my internet electronics purchases. Of course that will come to an end with the purchase of my next 5-channel amp.

    I bought my Pioneer 1120k from Best Buy for $560 tax included but I'm considering taking it back because I can get it from Amazon for $60 less. Right now I'm enjoying BB's 30 day return policy because I drove 40 miles expecting to use a 10% coupon on the $520+tax they wouldn't allow me to use once I got there because they were matching their internet price :mad: .

    You are forgetting the value of someone's time. In the time needed to unhook everything, box it up, drive there, wait in return line, drive home, unbox and hook up receiver purchased online... I could have billed a client a few hundred dollars worth of work.


    Anyway, for some reason I keep looking at the HK AVR 2600 now more than anything.

    If my H/K had HDMI, I wouldn't even be looking for anything else. But..... since I peeked, I'm finding it tough to go back. You won't be disappointed with H/K though. Not the flashiest out there, but it's a performer.

    Better look at BB's return policy. I believe they now add a re-stocking fee and you'll have to wait for your refund in the mail. That 60 bucks might get wiped out easily.

    I'm not sure what you mean by "had HDMI." As far as I know the HK 2600 does have HDMI support for video and audio.

    Love me some Onkyos for HT. The only thing I'd consider moving up to might be a Pioneer SC ICE amp. Other than that the Onkyos have got this HT thing down. Power, features, cost, build, and--most importantly PRICE!!

    HKs are nice sounding but the feature set is reduced and they're less user friendly.

    But I'd check 'everything' out. I've owned Pioneer, Denon, Onkyo, HK and been happy with each one and still am with my Onkyo and my OLDER Denon?

    Denons in the xxx7 and older series were much better build quality than is currently out there. IMHO.
