Pioneer VSX-30 vs Pioneer 1120k

I know the VSX-30 is an Elite and Elite is supposed to be better. So what makes it better than the 1120k? From an on paper stand point I would immediately think the 1120k was a no brainer.

They're not directly comparable. The 1120k is comparable to the VSX-32....
The VSX-30 is in the $550 range, the 1120k $750 according to Pioneers website.
Differences? 12v trigger on the VSX-32, and bragging rights. That's it. $50 difference too.Main Surround -

Plus the vsx 30 doesn't have preouts and the 1120 does. Usually you'll see a jump in price between receivers when they add preouts.HT SYSTEM-

+1, also, correct me if I'm wrong...the 30 has NO pre-outs, that starts at the higher models and the 1120?

I read Pioneer's answer to almost the same question " 2yr. warranty & logo on the Elite. The shipping weights are about the same. I'm reading the manual of my 1120 I received yesterday:biggrin: I should be ready to tackle hooking it all together sometime next week
If I can pass through the rec. from the DVD player to the TV all I should have to hook up will be the speakers and my external amp.
They could do away with all the connectivity for the I Phone and similar devices and I wouldn't miss them at all.TO ERR IS HUMAN. TO FORGIVE IS CANINE. -

So you are basicly saying you are paying an extra $200 for the name elite and some 12v trigger that I have little idea of what it does but I'm supposed to be impressed by .
So would it be worth my while to sale my Harman Kardon AVR 635 to buy a 1120k if it put it within reach of my budget?Pioneer vsx-1120k, B&K Sonata series video-5 amplifier, Polk Rti8, Fxi3, Csi5, and HSU VTF-1 -

I think you need to read the post again. No where did I say anything about spending 200 more.
1120k is 499 at Vanns.com right now. VSX-32 is 599 at abes of maine.
Yes its worth it.
Retail on these is 749 and 799, a $50 difference. Notice, no one said anything about a $200 difference.
You were trying to compare two totally different receivers earlier, the 1120k and the vsx-30. Those two aren't even in the same league. The elite line overlaps the standard line and you have to take that into consideration.Main Surround -

Yeah I see I misunderstood your post...That's what happens when you have a 2 year old running around combined with a 2 month old :redface:Pioneer vsx-1120k, B&K Sonata series video-5 amplifier, Polk Rti8, Fxi3, Csi5, and HSU VTF-1 -
lmao a pioneer elite with no pre-outs? Not very elite imho! I do love that logo though. Throw on a thx logo and you have one heck of a great sounding receiver. Okay anyways was wondering if anyone could fill me one this... A secondary receiver with pre-outs and no 12v trigger. Is there an easy way to get around this or should you just leave the amp on all the time/ manually turn it on and off?
-
Yea, it seems like the Elite line really went down in quality this year.
-
The line didn't go down in quality, they just provided solutions in the <$1000 line.
Remember the Elite line used to be primarily >$1000.
They could just not have anything in that price range, and you could go spend >$1000 again, like olden days.
Quality for the price, is about as expected. If you want better quality, fork up the money. That's how it is with anything, you get what you pay for.Main Surround -

People over at the 1120 AVS thread are claiming that Pioneer has stoped production on these because of new models coming out in a couple of months or so.

I kind of disagree. I bought the elite vsx21 with preouts when it first dropped for 450 shipped to my door. That was just in 09. 21 and 23 were priced lower than 1000 and both included preouts. I think they are taking more features away charging the same price because of the elite name. My old 21 was alot bigger than that vsx30 now and cost about the same from the same places. -
I buy a LOT of stuff from Amazon and pay $79 a year for 2 day shipping on anything I buy. I bought my 1130 there this week for $498 and for $3.99 more I had it here the next day.
When it's all set up I'll probably have an Adcom 7500 connected and either leave it on or just turn it off manually. That's the way I do my Adcom 5800 that's connected to an Adcom pre.TO ERR IS HUMAN. TO FORGIVE IS CANINE. -

The VSX21 is a much better sounding and feature driven receiver then the VSX30. I do not like the 30 or 31 receivers. I really think it starts today with the vsx32 and 33. These are Elite receivers with preouts , the 30 / 31 don't make any sense and remind of of a regular Pioneer receiver. Smaller chassis no preouts. I don't get it this year.
On a side note the SC line is still killer and I'm condisering picking up a SC-37 to replace my SC-07 due to IP control. What that meanns for those who don't understand Automation is the receiver has the ability to be fully controlled over a Ethernet connection. I can use "IP" commands to control the receiver in every single way. This is excellent. It's 3D and all that crap which means nothing to me , I just like the IP control over IR and Rs232c.Dan
