    They're ok as long as your speakers aren't over 50-75lbs. I've broken a few with my 100lbs Tannoys.

    try these in the 1/4 X 20 threads they are a bit better than the set at parts express. I've used both and my experience the madisound are better and my speakers are 150 lbs. that i used them on.

    What actually broke? Not being snide, just curious about the failure mode.
    I'll be getting my "Bill Fortier" corner cabinets for a pair of Altec 604Es soon (they're all built and paid for now) and they are supposed to be spiked... but at 9 ft^3 inside and Baltic Birch plywood outside... I think they're pretty beefy.

    The threaded portion of the tip is the weak point. If the spike was backed out at all(to level the speaker), tilting the speaker onto that point shifted the tip inside the base, making it cockeyed and locking it in place. Or they've sheared off completely at that point.

    I use them on my 2B's and my maple speaker stands. I have not had any issues but I am sure the Mye Spikes are better and the cost reflects that.

    The Parts express spike use a 6mm fine thread. Not the 1/4 20 thread.
    I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D
