Nice looking install, man. Makes me want to redo mine!
(But why the hell aren't you getting much use out of your rear surrounds? I run 9.2 full time, and my rear surrounds get a ton of use. Or are you a 5.1 purist?)Equipment list:
Onkyo TX-NR3010 9.2 AVR
Emotiva XPA-3 amp
Polk RTi70 mains, CSi40 center, RTi38 surrounds, RTi28 rears and heights
SVS 20-39CS+ subwoofer powered by Crown XLS1500
Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray player
DarbeeVision DVP5000 video processor
Epson 8500UB 1080p projector
Elite Screens Sable 120" CineWhite screen -
I do use the surrounds back when watching TV, but not that much with movies. There are not that many DVD's or Blurays that have more than 5.1_________________________________________________

Yeah... but Dolby does recommend using DPL-IIx for anything with 5.1 EX... which is damn near every new release for several years now, even if it isn't flagged as such. Because movies have been mixed for 5.1 EX in the theater for years now, there is a benefit to leaving DPL-IIx engaged full time for recent releases. Just because it has a 5.1 track on the disc, that doesn't mean that sticking to 5.1 gives you the same presentation as in the theater since most theaters leave their rear matrixing on.
Hit Dolby's podcast: http://www.dolby.com/consumer/experience/dolbycast/transcript/11-surround-sound-from-stereo.htmlEquipment list:

DarbeeVision DVP5000 video processor
Epson 8500UB 1080p projector

Then I need to see how to setup my player/AVR, because whatever I do it defaults to 5.1 if the DVD/bluray is 5.1_________________________________________________

Nope. Don't have a long enough cable yet. Tomorrow I should get my HDMI from Monoprice and you can be damn sure that as soon as it gets here I'm projecting to the wall

just a heads up, i have the 22ga (whatever the thickest they offer is, i forget) 50' hdmi cable from monoprice and have no repeater and no issues. i have and 6 components in my hdmi chain without issue. maybe it's the onkyo receiver, dunno.
man, wasn't long ago i was asking these chaps the same things you're asking and boy am i impressed. daddy got the biggest screen on the block, baby! i did however, have to paint my walls darker. but this was a plus as i needed to paint anyway. i went all out with black, but am left with a white "popcorn" ceiling and light beige tile. i can add a carpet to block the reflection off the tile but the ceiling will be left alone for now.
i doubt you'll need to paint, but IF you choose to, you'll be near-amazed with the results. but again, not a necessity. you will be able to use a lower bulb setting and save hours on the life if you do.

Use PLIIx, it will fill in your rears perfectly and leave the rest of 5.1 untouched. You can use it with just about everything except for a 6.1 signal which is pretty rare these days. -

I got the 22 ga; Will try it alone and see. I also got the repeater, for 12 bucks I figured I could as well have it just in case.Use PLIIx, it will fill in your rears perfectly and leave the rest of 5.1 untouched. As I said, I need to check my settings. I must have some auto setting somewhere because I can't change what's coming from the DVD players._________________________________________________

No you don't! You have the widest screen, your 16:9 image is way smaller than mine. It's a compromise buddy, get it right. I have the biggest screen technically speaking. Gotta admit you have a garbage projector though.;):D
Edit: Anyway Ricardo things are moving fast in there. Awesome bro. Mounting looks fantastic. If you have problems with the long HDMI, the equalizer or booster should get things right for you. As from Monoprice

naw, daddy got the biggest screen in my own personal neighborhood. regardless, i may have the biggest 2.35:1 screen here, though??? perhaps not.
ricardo, a note about the hdmi cord, this beotch is THICK baby. and it does not like to bend or flex much at all. you said there are bends that need to be made, but judging by your showcase pics, i don't see where you'll have any issues. for me it was hard fishing the cable from the attic where i was feeling like a contortionist down through the wall that was already chock-full of other speaker wires, rg6 cable and the like. but otherwise, it went well.
when fishing it down through the stem of the ceiling mount, it got a bit dicey. but since i'm just that cool, i made it work, and work well. then i made a lazy 90 degree bend....or arc, rather and plugged it into the back of my projector. i am thinking you MAY have an issue there. with that projector and that shallow rack, i'm wondering if you're gonna hit the wall with the hdmi cord or perhaps you'll be able to just give it a good bend by hand.

Not good. The route I'm planning is pretty intricate. I guess I'll have to open a few holes in the drywall to help me get through the tough spots and pull in stages.
Oh..that means I would need to patch and PAINT....maybe there will be an irresistible offer in dark colors only ....;)_________________________________________________

I strongly recommend using an HDMI port saver if you're close to the wall. I used one so I could make my cable run parallel to the wall to a wall plate, and it works like a charm.
Also, if you're using wall plates, the HDMI plates from Monoprice that have a flexible 4" connector work great for hooking up that thick HDMI cable on both ends. Kept me from having to go crazy with bending.Equipment list:

Ricardo, I own an Elite screen and if your on a budget, Elite is the way to go. After I purchased my Elite screen I had many other manufactures send me samples of their screen material which was roughly the size of a sheet of paper and to be completely honest with you, I really didn't see a difference when compared to the Elite material. Save the extra coin to purchase new movies to enjoy on your new screen and projector and buy an Elite, you won't be disappointed.Money Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!!

sherard, i haven't felt the urge in forever. i suck at codmw2 now anyway. also now that the kids are living with me again, they've taken over my ht and my sda's.

grim, like i was saying to you, you have the better higher gain material. the less expensive but always referred to fixed frame elite screens are not up to par with yours. yours is the shiznit.

1.- Who needs a screen. This thing looks awesome on the wall, and it's a light brown wall (There was movement and with no flash the image does not look as good in the picture).

2.-The Monoprice cable is actually very thick. I'm going to have lots of fun tomorrow.
3.- This thing looks awesome!!!!_________________________________________________

Congrats, Ricardo! Like the guys said... There's no going back once you go projection. Done. Putting the screen together was pretty easy. It does make a huge difference in the image.
Just need to clean up and patch a couple of holes in the wall

So I just have two questions to finish this thread:
1) Why would anyone that has the space for a projector own a TV???
2) Why didn't I do this earlier????
For those that are thinking about it, this setup was actually cheaper than many TV's out there. Less than $2,000 and I chose a relatively expensive screen. You could do it for $1,500!!!
Thanks for all the help guys. There is really no going back!!!_________________________________________________
