I wouldn't expect too much of a difference since you're using Monitor-series speakers. Always read that they don't need much power to really sing. Alot of people are happy having them hooked up to AVR's.

I would expect you to hear some difference though listening to 2-channel/direct mode. More detail+better dynamics? Those were the most apparent differences when I went from AVR to external amp.

i have the AQ IC i got from you and then some new ones. you think that makes a difference at all?

everything else is hooked up with Monoprice HDMIs, Monoprive 12awg wire with bananas.

i do like the remote with the SC-07. its NICE!!

i have yet to try 2-ch yet. i will do it tonight and also hook the M50 directly to the AVR and see how that sounds. might not need the amp til i get my Monitor70 back from UPS and get them fixed and then the RTi 12s

Did it set your M50's (or any other speakers) to large? And what crossover? I would start out setting them all to small and an 80hz crossover.
set the M50 and CS2 to Large. not sure on the Hz. ill look right now

+1. You need to be patient in setting up/getting accustomed to a new receiver.

    oh WOW!!

the change from Large to small and the 80Hz made a big difference.

Great to hear mole'. Good things come to those who wait. When you get your new Rti speakers and get it all set up, you should be happy for a long time.

I then recommend you sit back, relax, refrain from more *uprades* for awhile, and enjoy your money well spent...

You have a very fine setup!:D
thanks for yours and everyone elses help so far.

    adding 2 RTi 12s, 1 CSi5, and 1 Epik 15" Sub.

More musical that a Denon 3805? Maybe by a bit? But not much. Those older Denons are IMO better than a lot of the newer models. And I've heard the Marantz 5003, 6003 (I assume we're talking about surround receivers and not 2 channel receivers because there is no 6300 unless that's an ancient receiver?) many times while I was in China....with KEF, B&W, Klipsch, Dali speakers (it sounded best with the Dalis?). Actually I found the Marantz a tad brighter than an 'older' Denon. Nonetheless I think the Marantz is a fine choice (agreed).

This is the Marantz unit I was talking about. It exists and it sounds great. Mind you.. now that i think about it he has Energy c-5 speakers and i was using my Denon 3805 with polk monitor 70's. It's a bit of an unfair comparison i guess.

I was just reading through your posts and one important factor has been left out. It's going to take a few weeks for the unit to burn-in and all the components (there are a lot of components in there) to settle in. I would researve judgement on it until at least a good three weeks of constant use. It took my NAD a month of watching TV, movies, and listening to music before it really reached it peak performance and then it really started to sing.

The RTi, CSi and sub will improve your sound quite a bit. Just make sure your sub is set up at an optimum location and calibrate it w/an SPL meter.

    new setup would be

RTi12 for Fronts, CSi5 for the center, Monitor 70 (if i get them fixed) for the rear, if not them the Monitor 50 and monitor 40 for SS. and then the Epik sub.

should be nice. i would like to see how the M70 handle as rear speakers.

im thinking i need to pick up a good 5 ch amp now.

Good decision to go with the pioneer! :D Just FYI, set the subwoofer to PLUS if you want your sub to play in 2-channel stereo mode. Many here don't think a separate power amp is required with the ICE amps in the SC series but it's up to you. With the RT series Polks, I'd go with a power amp that will tame the highs a bit such as a Parasound or B&K. Adcoms tend to be a bit brighter.

im still learning the SC-07. so far its nice!. will the Acurus 250x3 amp i have hooked up now be OK for the RTi12 and the CSi5?

that or pick up a nice 5 channel amp and sell my Adcom and Acurus amps.

The Acurus should really make those Rti's sing mole'. :p

I would think so as well. Have you tried using just the internal ICE amps to compare?

I would use it for the front trio and either use the Adcom or the receiver to power the surrounds. Since you already have the Adcom why not give it a try?

i was planning on using the Adcom for my rear. have not had the time to go pick up the RTis yet. looking at getting them next weekend

Agreed. You may find that the Elite powers your speakers well enough on it's own. If I were to purchase an ICE powered receiver I would have to give it a listen using just the internal amps just to see what all the buzz is about.

should have time this weekend to play with everything. just been really busy with school starting back up for everyone.

Not so, just want to see the setup itself :)

There are some really nice looking (and I bet equally sounding) setups in the System Showcase.

i have my SC-07, Acurua 250x3 and adcom 100x2 amps. i picked up a B&K Ref 10 prepro last month and its just sitting there. should i use this or just sell it?

now i was thinking of selling my 2 current Amps and getting a good single 5 ch amp. atleast 200wpc@8ohms. i dont have the space and trying not to double stack anything of the bigger gear.

gonna wait a month before i do anything tho. wanna give everything some time to burn it first.

I don't see why not, although I expect to get to Northern CA Tuesday night (4-6am or so depending) so backtrack 6-7hours where I'll be in the L.A. area it'll be midnight there

Appreciate the offer, who knows though I might be able to come up with something :D

Just bought a GPS too since I had mine stolen last year while in Chicago

You could always pair the B&K with the Adcom, a good CDP and some SDA's to make a nice starter 2-channel rig! :D
