Low Volume While Listening to Cable Box

I have an Onkyo TX-SR607 and a polk speaker setup detailed in my signature. I am loving it so far. The only problem I am having is that I have to crank the receiver volume WAY up to get any decent level of volume out of it while listening to my AT&T Uverse box. I do not have this problem listening to the radio tuner, DVD, Ipod, etc. Any thoughts as to what I am doing wrong? I can't find any adjustements on the cable box and I have poured through the adjustements on the receiver. I am missing something.
Help.

No adjustment in the Cable Box menus for Fixed vs. Variable output? Seems strange.
They all seem to have that from what I have seen.
good luck!

Thanks, so what you are saying is that in your experience most cable boxes do not have any adjustments? On a UPS truck on the way to my house as of 12/09/09:

Are you using Dolby Volume or Audyssey Dynamic Volume?
If you are, try turning those off.My System Showcase!

Does the uverse remote have a volume button on it? Most cable boxes to have volume control and a setting to turn it off & just output a fixed high level (what you want).
Anyhow, if it lacks that setting, but has a volume button, just crank the uverse box volume all the way up and leave it there, then use your receiver to adjust.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Yes, sorry I wasn't clear w/o puncuation. Seems like you should be able to toggle between both modes, fixed and variable.
Did you find it buried in there?
We had a small connectivity issue last week, and they swapped in a new box for some reason; much newer looking and works great. Maybe you could report this as a problem as it is a standard feature on most boxes? For Sale 2019:
