    My girlfriend has 901's and at first I too thought they completely sucked a$$ - to the point that I really felt bad for her having spent so much on them (yrs ago before I knew her).
    But then I hooked them up to my Denon with a Carver amp and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! They sound great, but ONLY with an amp. Just my experience...

    I have never been impressed with the 901's, not that I have listened to all variants. They do make good party speakers as they play loud. I was always more impressed with the 601's.
