    I set mine up last night and wow. After using an AIWA for the last 5 years I really noticed a huge difference. Setup wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Really smooth. The Two Towers never sounded so good!

    I am still having some problems, as I thought it would very simular to my Denon 1700, but it s not. I did play a cd in my dvd player, it seems the onscreen displays are on the TV and not on the unit itself, as was the case with the 1700.

    what type cables are u using, are the componet video monster cables good, or is there some thing else worth getting??

    For video I'm using some Radio Shack component cables. About $40 for the 6 ft cable. I'm also using an optical cable for audio.

    Well, I just payed out $649.06 for a 3802/3803. Haven't heard anything from them yet about being out of the 3802, so I'll probably have to wait until Monday or so before I hear anything.

    Has anyone else tried getting in on this deal?

    I called earlier this afternoon and spoke with Chris, who informed me that the AVR-3802 was discontinued and that they would ship out a 3803 for the same price. He also mentioned that they "have not had the chance to update their website," so they must be planning on removing the listing for the 3802 sometime soon. For those interested, today may be your last chance to place an order and get in on this awesome deal.

    got mine, last Friday, arrived double boxed, factory fresh 3803.

    This is some kind of BS, it takes a week for them to remove the ad? They are dumping these 3803 for some reason, but who cares gettem while you can.

    well I went to my local tweeter store to ask for advice on setting it all up, the authorized dealer in my area, and they are selling the 3803 for $1000. The rep ownes the 3803 for himself, so that tells me it a great deal.

    Hoosier: Do you happen to know what the manufacturing date is on your 3803? It seems like the ones that have the latest fix have serial numbers that begin with 301 or higher.

    The whole "haven't had time to take it down" excuse does seem a little weird, especially seeing as how local stores are still selling these new for $999. I'm wondering if they're sending out older stock that doesn't have the upconversion fix. If you get a chance, check it out and let us know what you find.

    According to what I've read on other forums, all of the AVR-3803 that have serial numbers starting with 301 or higher, have received a fix for the upconversion problem that some people were experiencing with early models.

    I'm still just trying to find out why 6th is knowingly advertising an out of stock product, only to be sending out a newer, more expensive model in return.

    Well, 'Big Brown' just delivered my AVR-3803 about an hour ago. As expected, everything was exactly as described, new in box with the original serial number in place.

    As of this morning, 6th Ave was still showing the 3802 in stock, although the price is up to around $690. Still a good deal though, especially if you're in the market for a new receiver.

    My friends old Denon pro logic surround receiver died when the hurricane blew through knocking out power and sending a surge through it.

    He was in the market for the 3803 at $1000.00 when I walked him through this deal.

    He placed his order last night for the discontinued 3802 at $688.00. I told him to hang tight and await a call or email telling him they will have to substitute the newer 3803 at the same price.

    I'll let ya know how he makes out.

    My friend just got a call from them stating that his 3803 shipped last night for the price of the 3802. Going rate...$688.00 plus a whopping 6 cents shipping.

    He wanted me to thank those involved in this thread for posting this. You guys saved him from buying the more expensive 4802 at almost $1700.00. He found he could really live without that THX stuff for a grand in savings.

    Now, he's finishing off his 6.1 system with a set of new Polk FXi 50 surrounds and a Polk CSi 40 center. When he decides he is through with his Klipsch center, I'll talk him into another CSi 40 for the rear center.
