Well I bought the 3802 Monday and just got an email from 6ave saying the 3802 was discontinued but they would give me the 3803 for the same price. Of course I said yes. It's funny because I just looked on their website and they are still advertising the 3802 for $599. So if anyone wants a 3803 for $599....

Yes. It was $599 +6 cents shipping. They must have increased it after noon today because I checked it several times this morning and it was still $599.

did anyone receive the 3803 yet? This sounds a little too good to be true. I looked 6th ave up one the Denon website and they are an authorized dealer. I would really like to pick up one if this is for real.

I ordered one last night. $649 + $0.06 shipping. Hell of a deal. I ordered one from Crutchfield last week that should be here on monday so I have to send that one back. This one is $250 cheaper. When you called, did they say there was no 3802's left? Did you call 1-866-666-6AVE? I have to call on Monday to make sure they don't send a 3802.

Same here, I ordered the reciever last night after I compared the prices from Crutchfield and 6th Ave. Acdds, let's cross our finger now and hope for 6th Ave. to send us the "Discontinued Item" email and send us the 3803. I would not recommend calling the 800 number, don't you think they might notice it and update the website? Wait a couple more days til they send you the email. Let the other Polk members take advantage of this wonderful deal.:D

I placed an order on Friday, they just called me and wanted to let me know that they will be giving me the 3803 for the same price. You can count on me asking plenty of questions once I receive this beast. (At least a beast compared to my 13 year old Technics I have been using)

The receiver has very positive review. I was going to put in an order, but when I read that when driven all 5 speakers simultaneously, each of them is driven at only 50w/channel (measured @ 1kHZ, 8 Ohm, 0.6% THD), I am having second thought. Beside H/K, does any mass-produced manufacturer listed their truth specs for all speaker driven simultaneously anymore?

well I just got a issued a UPS tracking order from them.
the wieght is 45.7 lbs, can't tell what they sent me from PARSIPPANY, NJ

does this jive with the shipping wieght of the 3803 or 3802.
they never sent me an email saying they were out of the 3802's.

BTW is there that much difference b/t the 2 if I do get the 3802?

ebay has been selling refurbished for $600 + ship, and used for $575 + ship, so I would be paying an acceptaple price given that its new and from auth dealer.

My 3803 is supposed to arrive today. I'll let you guys know once it arrives and verify that it is the 3803. The 45lb weight is the same for both models.

I ordered the 3802 via internet yesterday and I called 6 Ave today to see if they still have any 3802. The 3802 is out. But they can sell you the 3803 for the price of the 3802.

BTW, I just got my POLK LSi9 yesterday
I hooked 1 up and tested it agianst the Monitor 10's
they are 1/4 the size, and sound better IMHO.
I was using my Denon 1700 unit, which is 4 years old, and only 70 watts, so anyone who said I would need more power for the 4ohm speakers must be living in an isoloated field and need s to play them really loud

I got them for $600 on ebay, new

I got my Denon 3803 today from UPS. It was in pristine condition. The box had no evidence of being previously opened. The initial display and OSD displayed no previous settings and the serial number on the box matched the one on the back of the unit. Thanks McJudd for the heads-up! What a find! I am returning the 3803 that I bought from Crutchfield ($999). I saved $350 and offset some of the cost of the 2900 I just bought. Thanks again. Anyone who is looking to buy a 3803 check out the site before they realize what is going on!
By the way, I hooked up the 3803 I got from Crutchfield just to see if there was anything different from the 6th Ave one and there was no difference in packaging or intial display (for anyone who is a little suspicious of the deal just like I was). I hope everyone enjoys, this thing kicks the 2803 that I had ****!

Kingtut is absolutely wrong about the spces on the 3803. All the channels are rated at 110wpc, 8ohms 20hz-20khz with 0.05%THD driven simultaneously. Just in case anyone was wondering

I listed the link above of a review from What Video Widescreen Entertainment magazine. They tested the Denon with the front channels and all five channels driven simultaneously. The front channels provided more than 110wpc, but when driven simultaneously, each channel only produced 50wpc. I don't believe Denon listed their specs as "all channel driven", as H/K, Rotel and NAD. Most of the time, when the manufacturer does not list the in the specs as "all channel driven", the wattage produced is usually substantial less than the wattage from both front channel driven.

I don't test them; I just read about them and post the link to the review, so the members can be more well-informed.

Here's a another article on a different Denon, AVR2802, from Home Theater magazine. The link is for the testing specs. The 2802 is listed at 90wpc. HT tested the two front channel driven together produced even greater wpc @ 126.9w, 8 Ohm & 0.1% distortion. With five channels driving 8-ohm loads, the amplifier reaches 0.1% distortion at 35.3 watts. Here's the link:

When testing all 5 channels driven, the wattage is always lower than when two channels are driven. I wish that Denon (along w/Onkyo, Yamaha, Intergra and many of the mass-produced manufactures) would give us the true specs of "all channel driven", in addition to the usual wpc for each channel. Afterall, when most people watch a DVD movie, their system is set on Dolby Digital or DTS, which have all five channels-- plus the sub working together. Don't get me wrong, at this price the AVR3802 is a steal and an excellent full-featured receiver. The above reviews point out how excellent the receivers are even at full price. However, my current receiver also produces 52wpc when all channel driven according to HT mag., so the Denon is not an improvement power-wise.

Thanks ALOT to MCJUDD, I ordered this Monday am, and got this Thursday afternoon, in original factory box, they never even bothered to tell me by email or phone that I was going to get the Denon 3803 for the price of the 3802.
I could turn around and sell this on EBAY for $800, now to hook it up to my new lsi9 polk speakers.

Only thing left if to buy some stands for these.

Is $650 a good price for this receiver? I've been looking for a decent seven channel receiver with component switching, but really didn't want to pay $1000+ on one.

EDIT: Does anyone know what the component bandwidth is for the 3803, and how it compares to other high end receivers?

Good to hear tha you guys are enjoying 3803 for I too will receive mine very soon. It sucks that I have to wait til the 30th of this month and I ordered it late Saturday last week. That's ok, it will give me some time to move my "second to be" system in the master bedroom.
