Has ANYONE had the HDMI switching go to the blank black screen on its own?
My SC-05 will nromally take a second or 2 to switch from one source or another (which I am assuming is normal). When the switching takes place, I get a black screen with a green vertical line on the very far left end of the screen - I have always assumed this green line is just a function of the actual HDMI cable and it just takes a sec. to switch sources.

My concern lately is occassionally the receiver will switch to this screen in the middle of a DVR - fed TV broadcast on its own. I have never seen this happen with the other inputs...ie Wii or BD player. (On a side note, my DVR is a basic RCA TIVO that is 5 + years old and connected via a s-video cable to the sc-05). Anyone else see this on their sc-05 / sc-07?

It sounds like the DVR is on the way out. You might try replacing the s-video cable to see if it fixes the issue.

I have tried several different s-video cables and same thing happens.
Has ANYONE else seen this...I know with some other Mfgr's (Onkyo), heat has been the issue. At times the top of the sc-05 does get "warm" (subjective) to the touch, but by no means "hot"...

Have you tried just a RCA video cable? I was thinking this might indicate just the S-video connection at the DVR?
According to the SC-05 manual, it will upconvert from RCA composite to hdmi.

Good idea...I'll give it a whirl this weekend, as well as watch a bunch of Blue Rays to see if it happens again.

DOH! I discovered 'Full Band Phase Control' yesterday. Only 6 months after I bought the thing:o
Definitely helps make redbook cd's sound better. My Rush cd's were sounding anemic!
