Ok, well I figured since so many people have been snatching up these Pioneer Elite's lately, that I would go ahead and try to make an Official ICE CLUB thread. A place for all of us owners, potential owners, and anyone else who wants to talk about the Pioneer Elite ICE amp receivers.

Feel free to add whatever you like to this thread, along with opinions, reviews, MCACC setup, questions, prices...etc.

So my SC-07 arrived on schedule yesterday (big plus).
And this thing is simply awesome so far. I haven't had it hooked up long, but my initial impression is that it already sounds better than my Pio Elite 92 did. I don't have to turn up the volume quite as loud as I did on the 92, and even at low volumes, the sound seems much more defined. This new Elite definitely opened up the soundstage even more.

I have 3 channel amp as well, an XPA-3 that i've been using a with my previous Elite. I haven't tried hooking it up with my new SC-07 yet, but this receiver sounds as good, if not better, than the Elite 92/XPA-3 combo I was using before.

Not this matters to everyone since a lot of people use Harmony remotes and such. But the remote from the SC-07 is a lot easier to navigate than the 92's was. The button layout is much more convenient, and even something simple like being able to switch between sources in either direction (could not do this on the 92) makes it better in my opinion. And also, the GUI looks a lot better, and it's easier to read and navigate, IMO.

Ok, well obviously i'm still excited about my new toy. I'll definitely be doing some more tweaking and messing around, and acquaint myself with this bad boy. I'm already very happy I made the switch, and I'm sure I'm not going to be disappointed after I start really digging into it this receiver.

Thanks guys, you were all right about these SC-05/07's. ;)
It would be cool if the mods could do that. If not, maybe we should track everyone's review down and put them in here ourselves, especially Mantis's recent detailed review.
Glad you liked the Polk Audio Sign.

Picked up an SC-05 over the weekend.

As you can see in another thread I just started (http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80667), I'm having some issues managing the bass output on this puppy. Any help would be much appreciated :p

Other than getting the bass to sound right, I'm going to give two thumbs up for sound quality as my initial impression ;)

I'm gonna assume you have been listening to your system with to much bass and now that your system is setup correctly, you feel like your bass is weak.

You must understand what a correct setup is suppose to sound like before you can go and color it up your way. If your system doesn't sound the way you like it with MCACC, don't use it. use a SPL meter and set up your system manually. if you need help with that, just ask.

Hi all, and thanks for this thread. I am going to be purchasing an 01 in the next few months, as I save my pennies.
I have been hanging out here and reading all that I can about the elites, and I have a few questions about them.
In reading about and comparing the 01 and 03, I haven't found much in the way of direct comparison in the way of actual listening experience. I know the slight differences on paper, with the exception of the huge difference (8 lbs.) in weight!
1st, can anyone tell me what makes up the weight difference? Are the amps that internally different?
2nd, what are your personal experiences with these two amps? In other words, will I notice much difference between the two? I have a modest Polk system, as you can see by my sig. However, I want to leave open the options of upgrading my speakers one day, and of course, the possibility of adding separate amps.
I am not an audiophile yet, but am an aspiring one on a budget, if that is even possible.

Thanks, and any help is appreciated,

Probably not going to happen......nor should it. We don't do that for Polk Audio product reviews (which is what this forum is mostly about) why would they do it for a handful of Pioneer owners? I'd bet Pioneer has a forum as part of it's main website........that's where it would be appropriate to have such a handy reference.

I am now a happy camper and have no plans of leaving the Ice Club. The sound coming out of my SC-05 is phenomenal after some minor tweaking! :D

I will be a Ice member tomorrow. Driving an hour to pick up the receiver from a HIFI shop. They have the sc-05 for $699 and the sc-07 for $899. Haven't decided which one to get. I'll decide on the drive up.

With your current speaker package, there is no reason not to get the 01. The 03 is a bit nicer, a few options but they sound identical. I think they use the same exact amp. To step up you would have to pass the 03 and get the 05. This would give you a big upgrade. Not so much in sound quality as they still sound close. The 05 is a bit clearer and sounds more like seperates.

    Good luck with your purchase.
