    I'm psyched!

I had a post in "Wanted to Buy" for a 5 or 6' Signal Cable MagicPower and I think from what I've seen (Gebby/Erik Tracy/etc.) the Groneberg is as good as or better.

I've also been looking to clean up my power and add protection as I leave my system on 24/7.

I'm looking forward to receiving. Thanks.

An amazing club member to deal with!

The APC and 10' Power Cord, plus the Groneberg Reference Power cord are in pristine shape and have already been put to work; the Groneberg powering my Yaqin CD-1 tube buffer (NICE cable) and the APC powering EVERYTHING.

Thanks Carlos! I've left high marks for you in the feedback section.

My first impressions are 100% favorable (and I'm going to be more relaxed as I leave my solid state gear powered up 24/7 and used to worry during electrical storms when I was away or sleeping).

Before I firmed up the buy from criverajr, I went directly to apc.com and downloaded the specs into an Excel spreadsheet to make side-by-side comparisons.

I then shopped eBay, Amazon, etc. to get current pricing for brand new units and I found the H10Blk to be about $185 delivered and the H15 around $245 delivered (USD)

In the specs, there were only 5 differences, and 2 were in FAVOR OF THE H10 and one was the weight which is a moot point.

--- The H10 comes WITH a 10' power cord whereas the H15 has no cord provided.
    --- The H10 operates from 5-113 degrees F and the H15 from a narrower range of 32-104 degrees F.
    --- H10 wieghs 16.1 lbs and H15 weighs 16.7 lbs.
    --- H10 is $50,000 equipment protection warranty and H15 is $75,000 (USD)
    --- H10 is 49498 Joules (140kAmps) and H15 is 5270 Joules (160kAmps)

Unless you require the extra 272 Joules, the H10 is a screaming bargain.

The display readout is different and I bought mine NIB from Tiger Direct for $99 shipped to my door :D. Wish I would have bought another for the office rig.

It serves it's function better than I thought it would. I'm sold.

Is yours the black or white colored unit?

I see the white H10 is now $118 delivered from Tiger Direct, but it seems they don't discount the black version and there is no trace of the H15. I also notice that is does have a slightly different faceplate with no output percentage indicator LED's. Last, it is listed as APC H10 AV H Type Power Regulator instead of H10Blk or H10Wht.

I got a silver H10 from Tiger Direct when they had them on sale for $99.

I've been using it for a couple months now, and couldn't be happier with it. Cleans the sound up very nicely, without coloring it at all. The voltage regulation is a very nice feature as well.

All the blue LED's also make for some nice ambiance when listening with the lights turned down.:)

It's actually silver and yes the black would have been a little nicer but for $99. It doesn't look bad at all, but I do have it seperated from the rest of my components.

It's all good. These things are great looking, provide much needed protection, and it seems my noise floor is even "blacker" all the way around.

I have a dedicated circuit powering it so there is not much more I can do with my current budget.

I guess the one last tweak I will spring for will be one of those fancy MIT/PS Audio/etc. $75-$100 duplex outlets to replace the 69 cent special the electrician provided.

I do have another comment and a couple of question. (maybe I should start a new thread :))

I purchased the APC H10 to add protection and clean up my current, but price was a big part of the equation. With that said, I generally spend up if I'm convinced of the better long term value of a dollar spent.

I know PS Audio UPC 200's (and Shunyata to a lesser, but increasing I think, degree) have a big following, and while they are clearly more money, don't cost a fortune IF you can find one used.

Do folks with the the higher line stuff just laugh at the APC, or is it truly the upper mid-tier product I judge it to be?

Last, is buying a used UPC a "false economy", or do the materials inside maintain their electrical integrity for a long time?

APC is good stuff--This unit's next higher up model the H15 was the OEM for the Rotel RLC 1040. I'm not sure if this model was as well, but I'm pretty sure this H10 unit is the same build structure as the H15, just w/o the AVR (and the other differences that you stated already).
    rlc1040_front.jpg

Oh yeah and the faceplate can be spray painted with reportedly good results. I picked up 2 (or was it 3) of the H15's in silver and plan to spray paint them-I already have the paint (just not the time). I'm sure you can paint the whole thing, but if its in a rack (as mine is) then I don't see a reason to (except for resale maybe).

I'm very happy with my H15, if for no other reason than the build. It feels sturdy-all
metal, and nice build quality inside. I know I have a pic of the innards around here somewhere....Oh yeah its rack mountable too..

UPS? For battery backup? I believe like any batteries, they have a finite life--typically 5 years-but are replaceable--but they cost a pretty penny.

Oh yeah, and I don't care how hi-end a power conditioner/surge protector is--It will not stop a direct lighting hit.

I'm not sure you'll get much better filtering and regulation with the PS Audio at 4X the price. I've never compared the 2 units, but I really wasn't expecting much from the APC (and I knew then that Rotel's were the exact same unit). This thing has lowered the noise floor, added a bit of clarity and depth as well as cleaned up my TV signal very nicely. It has stayed out of the way completely while doing it's job. I am very impressed and I'm about as critical as one can get with these types of tweaks

I'd say the next step would be a big one up to a Power Regenerator.
"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Puritan Audio PSM136 Pwr Condtioner & Classic PC's | Legend L600 | Roon Nucleus 1 w/LPS - Tubes add soul!

I should have been clearer. I was referencing the PS Audio UPC 200 that many around Club Polk use and seem to hold in high esteem.
Last, is buying a used UPC a "false economy", or do the materials inside maintain their electrical integrity for a long time?

Ahh--While I think (just my impression) most of the items in them are likely quite durable--I think the biggest concern on a non factory recertified used unit would be if the unit has seen any 'action' in its lifetime. In otherwords, has it had to sacrifice itself in anyway to protect a prior owners equipment rendering it either dead or weakened.
I wonder if the warranty and protection guarantee is transferrable on the PS audio units. ??
