Actually, you should pass on the 24/25 and find a 35 or 35X unless you find a steal. 35(X)s go for around $300-350 and they are more plentiful and a tad more robust for about the same $$$.Alright. Thanks for the help Bill. I'm going to wait until I can afford a TFM-24/25.

Yep, just paid $300 for a nice TFM-35x. However I saw where somebody stole one for $100 on CL or some such. Lucky fella.-Kevin

Good deal...let us know how the 90s sound with a serious amp. If you're going direct as we talked about, the 35X doesn't have gain controls like the 35. Other than that and a resistor removed from the path for THX certification, they are pretty much the same amp though the X has a higher rail voltage and a bit more headroom IIRC.Yep, just paid $300 for a nice TFM-35x. I am stalking an Audio Research pre right now. I'm on the trail of a couple.Ron Temple wrote: »If you're going direct as we talked about, the 35X doesn't have gain controls like the 35. So yeah, no "direct", though the idea is to get as close as possible. When I get everything going I'll post it in my LS90 thread. Gonna be a couple weeks. These things take time as I'm sure you know.
Ron here has been very helpful and if he says wait on a 35 I'd trust him. I took his advice and so far have been pretty happy. That Pio will do until the right thing comes along.Paden501 wrote:Alright. Thanks for the help Bill. I'm going to wait until I can afford a TFM-24/25.-Kevin

Yeah I'll probably wait for a 35 seeing that the cost difference is almost zero. The Pioneer is doing fine for now, though my room size is small at the moment and it'll be moved into a large room before long.
Until then I'm just combing craigslist occasionally looking for a steal.~Matt

congrats man
can't wait to see the pics -
Well I've got good news and bad news today.
The good news is that I scored a pair of monitor 4s to use as surrounds in my SDA system. They're in really good shape and sound great!
The bad news is that we lost the house :-( The seller decided that he didn't want to do ANY of the things that we requested from our home inspection (including installing a radon evacuation system and fixing a mold problem in the basement).... so we're pulling the plug on the deal.~Matt

I would have thought the Radon thing would be mandatory?
Not sure-I got my house because the previous buyers backed out because the inspection revealed high Radon levels. But the sellers took care of that real fast so I'm not sure.
Well, sorry to hear that you lost out, but look at it this way-If I'm not mistaken, now the seller legally has to Disclose those findings as known issues. I think he'll have a harder time now unless he fixes them.
If he won't fix them, would he take $$ off to allow you to fix them?____________________

Look on the bright side. Now you can get that Carver tfm-35:D;)
That really stinks about the house, but there must be a better house out there for you. I just think things like that happen for a reason. Good luck finding another place!
Almost forgot, congrats on the 1C's. Every time I listen to mine I fall a little more in love with them.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden
