Yeah, I'm very familiar with Tornado ridden Wichita Falls. About 3 hrs to the North east for me, right out Highway 287.

    MX,
I buy almost everything on ebay or by some device which allows me a savings. You can laugh at the shaver and the pan but I saved almost $70 on the two over normal cheap "on sale" store prices. Keep this in mind, I will easily be able to outbid you by $70 on my next purchase because of it. Will you be able to match me ???

Heh,heh... My fellow employees wonder how the hell I can afford what I do...

To go a step further, if tour has a bid on it it's WAY below the reserve. As a matter of fact if tour is planning on actually buying it he is more than welcome to but at this point it is more than twice the listed bid price to meet the reserve. I gave up a long time ago when it comes to a friend bidding on something that I want. Many items have gone for far less than I would have spent. It goes something like this: I want to win that $3000 item, but you only bidded $200, yea but if that unknown person hadn't bid $2000 then I would have got it, ...yea, but I was willing to pay $2400... and on and on... Before figureing this out I used to let it go but my "friends" never actually wins anything and always says afterward "If you really wanted it then you should have bidded a reasonable amount. Can anyone argue this point???? Even further, I don't really need another pair of 1.2's and figure even further that it will go for at least twice what I bid anyway, so what is the problem??
    madmax

EDIT: I re-read my post and it doesn't even sound like what I meant. I don't even want these things anyway and even if I did probably russman might end up with them for a year until I could go get them. I'm out of this sale...

No problem here. Did not mean to imply there was one. All I did at this point is place a low proxy bid to watch them.

As with you I don't need them, but that has not stopped me before...

Those adcoms should be fine with them if they are a true mono design, not a bridged two channel.

Edit: Actually this is pretty funny. We have talked so much about our own sytems that we are now picking out auctions and debating on whether their systems will work :D

Well he picked the monos off for 800, he is locked and loaded! I hope he isn't broke after that one!! LOL!

If a GFA-555 can run with the 1.2, I am sure their Mono can to...right? or are they different designs?

Most mono amps can be used because their ground terminal potential is the same as the neutal line (in the middle between the + and - supply. When you bridge an amp normally the ground terminal potential is somewhere around 70 volts with respect to the neutral line. If the supplies were very well controled and within a few mv of each other then no problems would occur but if the two voltages shift around at all then a lot of current is pulled out of the amp causing damage. On a mono set with the ground terminal voltage the same as the neutral line the voltage tends to stay very close to zero. You can still have some problems if one channel craps out the right (or wrong) way. You can end up with one amp taking out the other. Overall it is fairly safe with the correct type of amp, it is just that now you have to consider the two amps as one. (if one channel goes then it can take out the other channel with the SDA's).

I have SDA-SRS's,1987 vintage, and Adcom 565 mono blocks. Adcom tech. dept. made very clear that the amps must be on the same circuit, and that a jumper of the same wire size as the speaker wire be attached between the two amps negative terminals, making them common grounded. I did have one amp fail and it did not take out the other. The amps have since worked flawlessly for almost 10 years. This was the only solution before the A-1 interface cable became available.

The AI-1 interface is the best insurance. They should have put the xformer in every SDA ever made just to be sure! There are those few who will be screwed if they use the wrong amp. I used a pair of silver9t monoblocks for a while with no problem. One of the older members used Haffler units, each one bridged, which suffered the problem and blew out both amps. I think it is the few but when you are one of the few it becomes very important to you! Didn't this set of speakers include the AI-1 interface anyway?

It is easy enough to make one. You just have to get the part number for the xformer. I'm sure someone here has that. Do you know how to solder?

Yeah, to make one is easy as long as you know how to solder
and also you should know a good quality of materials to use
and put them together to make it look original.

BTW, Mark I am still shopping for pin. I will go around to look for the same RCA plug that I used to strip to assemble. The RCA pin that I used ran out so now I have to look for the same kind so that I can finish it. Also I just ordered the Isolation from Newark today.
