It's nice to know. :) It would be even better if the lights can be turned off (full brightness, dim, turn off) except for the a few buttons such as power. But it's just my wishful thinking.

    From the manual:
‘Dim’ setting: Dims the display light, and turns off the halo light and all the front panel buttons except the On/Standby button. Halo lighting will occur when CDs are ejected. Activate this mode by pressing the ‘Dim’ button on the ERC-1 remote.

    and there you have it:D

So I have to pay to ship it to Japan? Maybe I should have been paid $20 to participate. :)

The mailing address I have for Sherard is not in Japan... I'm guessing it's a midway between the military and Japan? Perhaps he can chime in on this.

And I did receive your payment today, Concealer. Thanks.

It appears that it does, check out the cheap film caps on the main board. If the signal passes through them(probably does), you can upgrade them to tailor the CDP's sound to your liking.

Glad you're getting in gentlemen. Though that means some people are going to have to wait longer. :P

There was talk about doing the drawing today... as well as doing it after everyone's demo'd. I really have no preference. So what do we think?

The major factors are: 1. There may be members that may not be interested in keeping it. but 2. We can move the winner to the end of the list if we draw now.

I say we do the drawing tomorrow. Let's get a confirmation from all of the participants saying whether they're in for the drawing or not. I know several people said they didn't want in on the drawing. It would make more sense to do it now, so the winner can just be moved to the end of the list.

I for one, am definitely in. Don't forget, Dane and I have two chances in the drawing.;) I forget if anyone else has multiple chances or not...

BTW, Dane, I'll be sending out the additional $20 in the morning. I didn't have time to make it to the PO today, but I will first thing tomorrow morning.

I think what I'll do is wait until I've received all promised payments. That way there's no uncertainty.

    I'm still waiting on...
    $20 (add'l) from retro152
    $20 from cnh
    $20 from lightman1
    $20 from BlueFox

Those of you NOT interested in winning the player, please speak now or forever hold your peace. (Except you megasat) ;)

That's probably the best call. It's going to be quite a while yet before it's done making the rounds, so I don't think there's any huge hurry anyway.

Well, I think if you have enough funds to order one in, please order ASAP. The checks will eventually arrive and it'll be really soon. :)

I have nothing to say regarding the draw but to wish everyone Good Luck! Draw Now or Draw Later, up to you guys!

Since there are recently more people added to the list, it looks like we in the West Coast will be hanging longer for our chance. So, the sooner you order will be the better for us (if you have enough funds to order now).

With 3 or more people added recently, I think we have more than what we need for this?

So people speak up, what you want to do with additional funds? I say we wait to see if more people is interested to try the player out till the first round of evaluation is over. If we have more funds, we can buy something else to try out and Karma off again.

Check is going out on Monday... I just have to wait for a few to clear. I'll have to double-check the #s, but I think as of right now we have a $50 surplus.

Count me in on the drawing, be it now or later doesn't matter to me. In regard's to any surplus fund's, think Dane had mentioned maybe directing some toward shipping cost's. Im all for that, especially maybe helping out some participant's, (Bluefox in particular), him having to send off to Sherard in the pecking order, the latter being oversea's. Im in this for $40 + shipping to the next member, which im very cool with, just want this to be a good time for everyone, dont want this to be a financial hardship on any member, given logistic's are involved.:)

Nice thought, Pat! I think BlueFox don't need to ship it to Japan since Sherard's address would be in San Diego for demo.

Otherwise, it should be ship to Japan if we group demographically from East to West since Japan would be more EAST than U.S. :D

Let's hear what other has to say about surplus funds. We have all the time to come up with a good usage for it.

It would be nice if there was a enough left over to get a pair of ICs for the demo. Otherwise, we will all be using different ICs, which will give different results. The more we can standardize the demo, the more "accurate" our opinions will be.

If there is only a few dollars left over then it might be worthwhile to buy some CDs that are supposed to be the best in regard to sound quality, and include them in the test.

It will be used in completely different systems, in completely different rooms, being compared to completely different players. And of course no one is going to level match the two players they are comparing. You really think wire is a concern? Right.

Hardly, even if the wire did make a difference, you can't ignore all the other variables. And if you really do believe it makes a difference, it would only make sense to use the wire you are used to, so you know that it's not the new wire changing the sound. As ridiculous as that whole concept is.
