Sunfire Amps

I've heard Rabbits rig and it is indeed sweet. I've also heard the Sunfire 300x2 and 600x2 amps and they are just as sweet. All of the Sunfire amps are excellent units. No one that I know has ever had a failure, though I'm sure there have been a few. The Sunfire amps that were made in Washington are better than the new ones made in Japan, so I'd recommend buying used.

It's a shame that you've had issues with your Emo's... they should be rockin' your butt off like mine!:D

The issues are resolved now, my XPA-3 is working great. I just have this nagging urge to try something besides Emotiva for some reason. -
Find an audio shop close by. Get to know them. Take home something to audition. Return it (unless you get a super deal and like it better). If that's not possible, pickup a Carver 2 channel cheap. It will be more similar than not to a Sunfire so you can get an idea of how it would compare to Emo. You need to get your ears on stuff. The issues are resolved now, my XPA-3 is working great. I do have an audio shop in the next town over, i'm not sure what they carry but i'll have to go check them out.
As for a Carver 2 channel, something like this?

Yes, that'll do fine. Just don't expect to pay what the current bid is. I'll PM you what they normally go for.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

Yep, that looks like a good'un. Tom's right don't expect the price to stay there, but you might get lucky.

Sunfire amp is nice. Never heard any complaint about them. There are higher class than the Carver brand. Maybe something like Lexus > Toyota.

If you're patient you might find a 35, 42 or 45 in the $300-$400 range...not on ebay...CL or here.

Correction. There are higher class than the masses sold by the Carver brand.
There are some Carver pieces that don't fit that mold. They are much better. Bob as well as many audiophiles would agree.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -

Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin: -
i just bought a 5200 and couldn't be happier. I paid $1000 shipped bidding on ebay. The sunfire is made to bi-wire and it really sounds fantastic. It is also runs very cool and is dead silent. I didn't go with the grand cinema because I couldn't find a 17" model everything is 19" and to big.
I run a7's, csia6, and fxi a6's -
I personally selected the 5200 over the Emotiva XPA-5. It is light, cool, has a smaller footprint and doubles in power on my LSI theater system. I actually got mine from my dealer at less than a $1000 dollars last year. It is killer. It killer and has outstanding build quality as well.
There are quite a few polkies that use the sunfire amps. Do a search on sunfire and you'll see their details...LSI 15
LSI C
LSI FX
80 fx ls for atmos
Velodyne SPL-10
Marantz 7012
Panasonic 9000

I just installed my 5200 over the weekend and am very happy with it. I too like most of you like the smaller footprint, and how cool they are during extreme performances. I purchased new and dont regret the purchase at all but @ 1000 bucks, looks like I paid too much. Very happy though, regardless.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

You did okay. I bought my TGA-5400 18-24 months ago from a brick and mortar store and paid $3300 + tax. No regrets at all, but I do wish they made 2 channel gear.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Wow less than $1000.
I was "considering" buying one and it would of been around $1500.
Makes me think twice (all though i was still undecided anyway). -
before i bought my 5200 i saw a 5400 go on ebay for a little over $1500. For some reason the tga's are not popular on ebay and go for great prices (the 5400 was used but in perfect shape)

Metal, TNRabbit has if I'm not mistaken. Check this site out and just take a look at the MSRP.

I Don't think i'm going to buy it, because i want a multichannel amp, but was curious about that one never the less.
-
I remember seeing a Sunfire multichannel amp that has both the voltage and current source for the three front speakers. Which model is this?

I emailed the person 3 times so far with no response, kind of irritating to be honest.
And what's up with paying by Money Order, so you'd just have to send it out and hope you get something in return when he receives it?
(I have never paid for anything with a Money Order in my whole life, so i have no idea how it works)
